A while back we worked through the pull request queue. This allowed us to look at tidying the code base without breaking people's outstanding PRs. Mechanize now is completely tidy using Perl::Tidy and tidyall, and all code must adhere to the perltidyrc when you submit a new PR.

And finally there are various POD fixes, as well as a more detailed explanation of the select() method and its host of different argument formats.

The documentation for storing response contents in a file via :content-file now explains that content encoding such as gzip will be retained and written to disk. This was contributed by bscan, the author of Perl Navigator (see for more on his great work).

We have also dropped Test::Warn from the test suite in favour of Test::Warning, which we were already using in several places anyway. Thanks @haarg for getting that done.

We now have tests for follow_link(n => 'all') thanks to Kueppo Tcheukam. Kueppo is learning to code and has chosen #perl to do it, and this was his first contribution to open source. Welcome to the Perl Community!.

There is now a new method delete() in Mechanize, which makes its behaviour consistent with get(), put(), etc to take a WWW::Mechanize::Link object as well as a URI object or a URL string. Thanks Stuart Johnston for this.

While we are talking about Perl version changes, please be aware that Test::Deep has recently been bumped to 5.12. We have decided not to go this high just yet as it's just a test dependency, but had to do some github action acrobatics to pin an older version.

We have bumped the minimum required Perl version to 5.8. We hadn't been testing anything lower for a while, and most of the toolchain modules we use have required 5.8 for a long time, so this made sense. Thanks @JamesRaspass for the PR to do this.

Finally, I have perltidied the codebase for HTML::Form. I should probably make a pun about formatting, but I guess I'm too formal to do that. Anyway, a lot of that code was over 20 years.old, and now my name is on all of it. 😱.

There are various HTML::Form::Input based classes in the distribution. These used to all live in the main Form module file. They now all have their own files, which is much easier to maintain. The documentation remains on one page, because that seemed easier to use.

Thanks to @cpan_author there is now a unit test for unrecognised options to the parse() method. This adds Test::Warnings as a new dependency.
