ROBERT J. MILLER’S first (by anyone, ever) tornado forecast hit Tinker AFB on 3/25/1948 (OIS-72). 100y from the 3/20/1948 hit. 14 people were killed in Oklahoma (near F5 with gruesome deaths). 20k in Indiana. Next Wednesday: plans for a full color SIGTOR UPDATE 2023-2026.

Robert J. Miller dropped out of college and joined the Army Air Force in 1942. In 1948, at Tinker AFB, he was part of the most incredible (supernatural) meteorological coincidences of all time (IMHO). Still waiting for a MAJOR JUNE OIS outbreak. NEXT WED details on 3/25-27/1948

I adjusted the OIS criteria by starting at “25" points instead of 30 for MAJOR outbreaks. This added 43 new outbreaks, and brought the total for 1873-1949 to over 210. WW-II saw many of new weather officers in the military, improving tornado documentation. More next Wednesday.

There hasn’t been a MAJOR OIS outbreak in June since Pilger, NE in 2014. That’s probably an all-time record low going back to 1873, the start of official documentation. I have identified about 215 OIS MAJOR outbreaks from 1873 from 1949. How? More next Wednesday.

I was too quick to post. Could be that staff cuts are delaying surveys. Will re-post OIS lists next Wednesday. Last outbreak will get a boost of at least 20 OIS points.

I am still waiting for GLOBAL WARMING/CLIMATE CHANGE to make up it’s mind on OIS MAJOR tornado outbreaks in May. By next Wednesday the picture might be much clearer,

Looking beyond the national media HYPE about so much damage done by tornadoes in late April, I am waiting for the OIS outbreak in May, or is global warming going to take its eventual toll on chasers. What if a MAJOR outbreak was set at OIS 25.

VERY SORRY. There was NOT an OIS outbreak in March, 5 years in a row, 2021-2025. My count of the March 14, 2024 outbreak was wrong. That one was a little short. So sorry to mislead you. Very ashamed and embarrassed.
