One of those moments I'll never forget. Eye to eye with the Black-browed Albatross flying past Grandstand Viewpoint Bempton 11.05 this morning

Not the rarest of birds but Twite is a scarce bird on Hartlepool Headland.

Another shot of yesterdays Black Scoter passed Hartlepool. This shot shows the thicker neck of a drake Black compared to drake Common Scoter. It's a feature I wasn't aware of until yesterday but worth knowing when trying to pick out a flying Black Scoter

White-throated Needletail, Scarbrough Castle. Now I've had time to properly process, I think this is my best effort.

Great to see the Pechora Pipit at Trow Quarry today. I could only manage flight views, but this shot does show the extensive white in T5 which I believe is a diagnostic Pechora feature

A candidate juvenile Baltic Gull on Parton Rocks, Hartlepool this morning. Very contrasty look & long winged. 6 primary tips showing & lots of white on the underwing both good fuscus features. Dont think they can be done safely in the field though.

Humpback Whale in the River Tees Sunday morning. Unfortunately I was at the wrong side of the river for the best views. Quite small (for a Humpback) with an unusually hooked dorsal fin. Probably quite young.

100's, maybe a few thousand Large & Small White butterflies on Hartlepool Headland today. Best finds were a Grayling & 2x Hummingbird Hawkmoths. Most intruiging was this Small White. Obs ID says 60% Southern, 40% Small White. Beyond my knowledge. Any comments welcome

Video & story posted in the Evening Gazette of a breaching Humpback Whale in the Tees Rivermouth yesterday afternoon. Video definitely a Humpback & it looks like South Gare in the background

Pacific Golden Plover at Holme Fleet this afternoon. Still a bit too distant and heat hazy. Looks tiny next to a Lapwing.
