How much worse can it get in Germany? Wind is at 1.5% of capacity and producing only 1.5% of Germany's electricity

@sideen_dan You simply don‘t get it. Our Greens have developed the idea of facilities with huge freezers (e.g. supermarkets) to vary their temps a few degrees over night. So they act as batteries. Simple. Frozen chicken save the climate - at least in Germany.

@sideen_dan Germany got to 500! That’s the magical level needed to demonstrate to African countries how really bad coal is and teach them to use renewables and candles instead Well done Germany, you have sussed for such leadership for the Developing World

@sideen_dan @clivehbest Perhaps German Greens, on a matter of principle, should stop using any electricity when it’s contaminated by fossil fuel generated electricity?

@sideen_dan Oh it can, and will, get a lot worse when Germany shuts down their nuclear reactors in a few more months. Like watching a train wreck in real-time.

@sideen_dan Seems it can get a lot worse. I read this am there's a delay in permitting Nordstream 2 until after the nuclear plants shut down. The only fuel they're self sufficient in is coal. Could look like Poland soon!

@sideen_dan More carbon intensive than relying on 100% gas. Smart move closing nuclear and keeping coal.

@sideen_dan Well see? If they would just turn it up, it seems like wind could provide 100%. Someone should just tell them to turn it up, right?

@sideen_dan Yet they want more investment in wind. Go figure.

@sideen_dan How can it be worse? Easy. Close Germany's nuclear plants (2022) for some bizarre technologically illiterate fashion statement. That's 8GW that'll need to come from somewhere. Chances of it coming from wind/solar? None. So its got to be (at best) gas more likely coal (Lignite)

@sideen_dan That’s why it’s called un-reliable power.

@sideen_dan Does wind power or solar power have more power generation capacity than coal or nuclear power? It is ridiculous.
