While 12.1 million households struggle with bills, Ministers are considering a £6bn tax break for oil & gas – and cutting support for clean heating. We should be insulating homes, not energy firms' profits. https://t.co/D6Lb4PaXYF

Exclusive: Supporters say grants largely going to middle-class households, but experts warn move will slow transition from gas boilers
Millions voted Labour because they believed in a promise: warmer homes, lower bills, better lives. Now there are rumours that ministers will scale back the £13.2bn Warm Homes Plan. And our latest polling shows just how badly that would backfire. But this isn’t just politics,

🚨 Reports suggest the Chancellor is preparing to divert funds from the flagship £13.2bn Warm Homes Plan in the Budget. This funding was meant to add to existing schemes not replace them. This move would effectively shrink the country's energy efficiency budget by 40% over five

Moves to cut funding that helps improve energy efficiency and ends cold damp homes would be an "act of betrayal" by the Government.

Reports suggest the Chancellor is considering deep cuts to the UK’s energy-efficiency programmes to fund short-term bill reductions. That would mean cutting up to 40% from Britain’s insulation and retrofit budget, dismantling the very programmes that actually bring bills down

Insulation and ventilation, when done properly, are among the safest and most effective ways to bring down energy bills and keep people warm. But sub-standard delivery and weak oversight by the last Government has turned what should have been a national success story into a

📈Almost a quarter of every household energy bill doesn’t go on keeping the lights on, it goes straight into the pockets of energy companies. New analysis shows around 24% of bills are taken as profit, while millions struggle with debt and cold homes. It’s time to put people

I’ve had the honour of working with and being inspired by @anginaylor in recent years. So deeply sad that she’s been taken from us. Thoughts are with Maureen and her family.
SWU and BASW are saddened by the recent passing of Angi Naylor. She was a renown BASW/SWU activist, social worker, folk singer, and Angi has been instrumental in our history and journey as a union. She will be deeply missed. https://t.co/pLT0KooYGX

🚨 Donald Trump is urging the UK to “drill, baby, drill” in the North Sea, claiming it will cut bills and boost the economy But the facts tell a different story⬇️ ⚠️ The North Sea is running out of gas ⚠️ More drilling won’t cut bills here, global markets set the price ⚠️ In

The £13.2bn Warm Homes Plan must be judged by how far it cuts fuel poverty and protects health, not just tick-boxes. We have written to the Minister for Energy Consumers urging her to put Warmth First: treat a warm, dry, affordable home as a basic right, backed by a Warm Home

Precisely this. It was so sad to see so many folk unable to finish. Was there any medical advice given to the organisers about the delayed start? #scottishhalfmarathon
@si_francis Crazy decision. Probably contributed to the many along the route who had to receive urgent medical attention.

Not sure delaying the start of the #ScottishHalfMarathon making all the competitors wait in the blazing sun is the wisest idea.

📉 North Sea gas is running out, and the UK will soon be almost entirely reliant on imports. Right now, just 14% of extractable gas remains, leaving us at the mercy of global energy markets, with prices that could rise sharply. That’s why we urgently need a comprehensive Warm

Donald Trump has taken aim at wind power yet again. But the real price of his fossil fuel agenda is higher energy bills and a damaged planet. What we truly need is clear: ✅ Clean, affordable energy — Renewables like wind and solar already deliver energy cheaper than fossil

How much gas is there left in the North Sea? Not very much as it turns out…
🚨The UK will no longer produce enough gas to heat its own homes by 2027 Even new fields won't stop our growing dependence on imports The North Sea is running out of gas 🎦 Watch and share our report #EndFuelPoverty

🚨For 60 years, the North Sea powered the UK, but the gas is running out - fast Even if every new gas field is approved, UK production won’t meet our heating needs by 2027, and by 2050 94% of our gas will have to be imported. That’s not a policy choice, it’s geological reality

Millions of pensioner households faced unaffordable energy costs last winter. While the changes will provide some relief to these households, there will still be pensioners unable to afford the high cost of energy and living in cold damp homes. So now the Government must focus
Today we are expanding Winter Fuel Payments to benefit nine million pensioners this winter. It is right that we continue to means-test this payment so that it is targeted and fair. That's why we have acted to expand eligibility so no pensioner on a lower income will miss out.

Not true @ScottishLabour @ChrisMurrayMP. Average price cap 1 July 2024 £1,568 Average price cap 1 July 2025 £1,720 That’s a 9.7% / £152 rise. The increase is driven by wholesale gas prices (which fair enough you don’t control), but this misinformation doesn’t help anyone.
