Frances is a third year animation student at a famous art school. Fresh out of a breakup, struggling with her film, self-isolating, will her NEW, COOLER friends be able to stop her from spiralling?! Or will they all fail art school together!? A new 165-page comic from Zoë Gray.

Colin’s film is about an uncomfortable and messy journey, because to fit yourself into a symbol of femininity is to deny yourself growth and change, and transcendence from the gender binary. Anyways, it was awesome to see this film come together and I’m glad Miracle Chan exists!

To reduce the film to doomer media is to ignore different people’s journeys through their transitions and only accept positive happy endings that conform to a single idea of the perfect transition. You will never look like an anime girl, but that is not a negative truth. 2/?

love this film as i think it brings up an interesting point i rarely see in “gender stuff” media, which is unrealistic and unattainable ideas of transition. Miracle Chan is not just a girl, she’s a moe-bug eyed anime girl that is impossible to exist in this reality. 1/?

We are most oblivious to the nature and magnitude of forces that are close and familiar. As such, a mother’s love and influence is transparent and permeant as water. Lady Fixie by Metias Gray explores familial influence and how it can continue to affect us in our worldview, (1/5)
