now you can romanticize this invisible labor and/or be okay with the fact that women are equated to goddesses & put on a pedestal bc they can do it all ^this is a trick to ensure that women don’t protest against the sheer amount of labor that’s expected from them in a household

i will go so far as to say that in most Indian households, festivals are more fun for the men than they are for the women this is largely because women are expected to perform & preparing for festivals (cooking, cleaning etc) is always seen as a "feminine job"

It’s sad how women are expected to be at their in-laws’ for every Diwali. Festivals should be about family, nostalgia, and shared traditions. Ideally, it should go both ways, sometimes hers, sometimes his. Maybe that’s why so many start celebrating in their own city instead of

you are also likely to make other lifestyle changes, dietary changes or adjustments to the kind of water you use to wash your hair, or the shampoo you use - which is why it is hard to attribute improvements to one beauty/skincare product

..beyond just the product you're using, such as your lifestyle, diet, genetics & so on. in my opinion, it is very hard to attribute a reduction in hair fall to a single product bc presumably, if you have severe hair fall and are willing to spend a lot on hair oil..

personally i dont think that beauty product reviews are reliable at all? i don't think you can even tell if a product works for hair fall/hair growth or if a serum is what’s making your skin significantly better bc what happens to your hair and skin depends on so many factors

& that behavior shift is what this rant is about i.e about how people are now doing things exclusively to show them on social media, not because they happened to take that picture while they were at that place... this performance changes the way we live life and experience things

the main point of this rant is that a lot of us are doing things irl so that they look good on social media. Like the example i mentioned earlier of people showing up at 9:30AM to get a pic, near zed the baker against those pristine white walls or the colorful walls near socials

our brains are not meant to remember everything from every interaction you have had/place you have visited. they can fill in those gaps easily and craft a narrative and that's what makes the experience unique imo

i think it's perfectly okay for memories to fade away or for me to fully experience being present in that moment & forget some parts of it later because that's how our brains have evolved to work

this obsession with documenting every moment is honestly so weird & so exhausting because it means every experience you have has to be perfect/curated, almost a performance, just so it looks amazing on social media

my hot take is that we should all document our lives less some things should become a blur and a haze in your memory & that’s how memories are best formed
