Celebrating WWII's greatest tank and related designs. Please excuse my fixation on the Endkampf period. Don't hesitate to ask questions or correct me.

I'll just note that, unless clearly stated otherwise, whenever you see "early" or "final" or other such adjectives, we're talking about the changes within an exact variant, not its place in the Sherman family tree. By all means an initial prod. 76 tank is overall a late Sherman.
Extremely rare (beyond French use and C. Abrams' Thunderbolt VI tank) initial production M4A3 (76)W VVSS Shermans, with the smooth-barreled M1A1 gun and unusual XLR turret casting*. L: possibly 712TB, Metzervisse (Lorraine), November 7th 1944. R: 7AD?, Beeck (Ndrh-Wfl), 29/11/44.

@shermanfannr1 Can´t resist. Sherman of the Day, as it is 80 years today, is this M4A2 from the Sherwood Rangers Victory and Farewell Parade on my market place here in Einbeck.

A very early M4A2 Sherman (formerly) in Soviet service, interestingly it has received a full quick-fix uparmoring kit, introduced in late 1943/early 1944, so the date is at least the summer of that year. Note preserved shipping stencils and the wear on the roadwheels.

A Sherman V ARV (M4A4-based) of an unknown Canadian armoured unit* towing a StuG III ausf. G assault gun, western front, summer-autumn 1944. * - the layout of the insignia seen on the driver's hood was the same in most units, only the colours changed.

M4A2 (75) [large hatch, dry] Shermans of the 1st Marine Tank Btn during the first days of the Battle of Peleliu, late Sep. 1944. Steel track (mostly T54E1) armor is characteristic of this unit and period. The USMC and Red Army were this rare variant's only users. Original color.

M4A3 (76)W HVSS Shermans of the US 2nd Infantry Division during the Battle of Hill Eerie, near what is currently the central part of the North-South Korean border, 1952. The first aid box, a post-war addition, has been moved from the side to the front plate because of the logs.
