Oooh…. the ‘fuming’ act(ress). Everyone run and hide lest she let out a banshee wail and deafen those with sensitive ears.
I support students and young people ALOT.

Wouldn’t ask a plumber, electrician, carpenter to work for free. Why ask actors. It’s a profession like the above. Well said Shauna. X

Always baffled that the music industry did just this when they allowed free streaming, now the only way to earn is to play live and NOT record 😔
@shaunamacd0nald
Sadly musicians are asked to work for free all the time :( I see many of my peers having same asks no matter their discipline and I wish it would change

I applaud you for this - speaking out takes guts...you have guts and style! (loving' the tiles)
In any other time or industry we would call out this behaviour as: slavery.
Pay the worker....pay the worker 😍

Currently working with Screen Scotland to deliver the first Scottish Film and Screen Curriculum to youngsters in Dundee. This is exactly what I was speaking to my Nat 5 and Higher class about last week, prepping them for a world of work.

Stand your ground - no one should be expected to share their professional expertise for free unless they choose to do so - doctors, lawyers, accountants, actors, musicians, artists, etc.
@shaunamacd0nald
EVERYONE who creates art deserves to be paid!!! I don’t do “spec work”. No one should demean their work by giving it away, it’s a bad habit that needs to stop.

As a young artist, I’d been asked to donate my work for fund-raisers/auctions. They offered I could write off the donation, & it’d be great exposure. NOTE: only materials costs can be written off, not my time, or experience. I tried it. I never got any new business afterwards.
