I wouldn't say "Arab" it's just Gulf. Persians/Iranians in the entire Gulf, including the Iranian side, dress this way. After almost a year in Kuwait my wardrobe is just thawbs.

When I was there, I met people from the Bulgarian Turkic tribe that converted to Islam but call Bulgaria their home (they were studying in Istanbul). I met people originally from the Caucasus mountains and were Circasians,trying to save their language and writings.
