Yesterday, Claude Code came in clutch. I'd been debugging an issue with audio decoding using OpenAL in NDK for 2.5 days. Cursor with Claude Sonnet 4 was going in loops. I reverted everything and retried with Claude Code; it figured out the buffer mismatch issue! (1/2).

Honestly this is where AI has been useful for me, with right instructions and a few iterations I can automate away all the mundane tasks. Plus can read and learn from the “average” source code (yes I do agree that the sense of joy from discovery and trail and error is gone).

find notes from that project. Gemini 2.5 Pro came in clutch. Managed to vibe code a batch script to download the sources, cross compile and move libs and includes to right folder. I had to iterate multiple times but in the end Gemini saved me easily 3 days of work.

Several years ago I had to cross compile some C and C++ libraries for ARMv7 using NDK, I found the required sources and figured out all compiler and linker flags necessary to get it working with a project. I had to redo all that for ARMv8 yesterday, unfortunately I couldn’t (1/N).
