The first Stargaze mint with $TIA is live. Also the first time using a Merkle whitelist to enable all 400,000 TIA stakers to participate. So head on over
@CelestiaOrg
fam.
Also, who knows why its a sloth?
Soon you'll have both Ethereum and Solana NFTs trading alongside Stargaze NFTs in the Stargaze Marketplace. Even Bitcoin Ordinals. That's something you cannot do on Ethereum, Solana, or any L2 in the near future.
~25% of crypto devs are actually actors larping as genius devs, and neither retail nor VCs know this is going on. If a dev is shitposting 50 times a day, trust me, they aren't writing any code, or nothing significant at least.
There’s no one to bail out crypto. Over-leveraged irresponsible firms die. Responsible ones survive. 100% degen communities die. Ones with substance survive. Unsound tokenomics crash. Sound tokenomics stick around. Greed gets wiped out. Everything is working as intended.
Bad Kids floor is higher than DeGods and Doodles.
Stargaze volume is higher than Flow, which raised $725M from a16z and others, and has a partnership with the NBA. Stargaze raised 200x less :)
Revenge of the nerds?
It’s the two year anniversary of Stargaze Launchpad's genesis mint!
As a small team of 3 devs, we managed to ship the platform that brought
@badkidsart
and 16 other collections to life. Launchpad was, and remains the only permissionless NFT minting platform in crypto.
On day…
.
@dYdX
is not available to US customers because Starkware and Ethereum L2s are not sufficiently decentralized and not censorship resistant. This is the primary thing that moving to
@cosmos
fixes. My guess is the new
@dYdX
app chain will be open to US customers.
Atom 2.0 team: Ship Interchain Security first. Show that you can ship with the team you have now.
Then pick ONE thing from the whitepaper and ship that. Grandiose plans often don’t work and they’re hard to pass through governance. Take baby steps.
Future social networks will consist of three primitives: NFTs, social tokens, and DAOs.
- NFTs will replace all content
- Social token ownership will replace the social graph
- DAOs will moderate and curate content
Welcome to the top 20 asset and $10B market cap club Cosmos $ATOM.
I've been a believer (and builder) in this ecosystem for years now because its the only one designed to scale infinitely without rent extraction.
Kind crazy that Bad Kids is doing more volume than top Ethereum collections like CryptoPunks, Milday and Nouns.
Two days into February and Stargaze volume is looking to eclipse January! Website is handling it well -- zero downtime or scalability issues.
The thing I’m most proud of about Stargaze is its growth has always been organic. We don’t have VCs shilling it, Cosmos OGs rarely talk about it even though they rock Bad Kids, and we don’t pay any influencers except
@DonCryptonium
. And that’s to create videos for all of Cosmos.
The best thing dYdX and Celestia did for Cosmos is to eliminate platform risk. They picked the SDK for a reason, and have vested interest in its continued development. App chains have found PMF and are here to stay.
@Curious__J
I have a lot of perspective on this as someone that’s been in Cosmos since right after the token sale in 2017. The reason there’s so much conflict is because there’s several factors that invite conflict if people aren’t mature enough to deal with it. I could write a novel on this…
Stargaze Marketplace v2 is going to have an onchain order matching engine. This is something you cannot do in Solidity / EVM because you can't do something as simple as iterate through a list of orders.
Thank you
@CosmWasm
!
The smart contract for Stargaze Marketplace has been submitted to governance. If you’d like Stargaze to have a marketplace, please vote on prop 29: .
🧵 Let's explore some of the features.
Stargaze is doubling down on
@CosmWasm
, the best execution environment out there. No parallel EVM, no SVM. We're not here to chase narratives. We focus on one thing and do it well -- build real products people love.
I don't think people realize how important blockchains will be in the soon approaching era of ubiquitous deep fakes. Storing attestations for content onchain is literally the only way to solve the problem.
My parents migrated to the U.S in the 80s with not much in hand. I bugged them enough to buy me an Intel 286 PC. I came across an issue of 2600 at a local bookstore that lead me to running my own BBS and learning to hack (and code). So thats how I ended up here folks. 🤘🇺🇸
Cosmos chains are slowly getting repriced according to actual demand and usage over influencer, "researcher" and VC shilling. Still a long way to go but getting there.
When I talk to Terra teams, they are surprised that
@StargazeZone
is built by a tiny group of devs. They’re used to biz folks telling devs what to do. Nope, that’s not how it works around here. Coders can execute on product too, and do a better job of it.
TruStory is open sourcing its entire codebase. Previously only the blockchain was open source. So here's the rest of it: web app, mobile apps, and server components. Includes a post-mortem at the end.
From back to front 👇
More projects should learn from how the Stargaze airdrop was structured. It was entirely voted in by governance. Users performed various onchain actions to claim $STARS. A subset of these users ended up forming the strong community Stargaze has now. No complaints, no drama.
There’s a reason I continue to build on Cosmos despite many attempts at luring me to build on Ethereum. It’s the only architecture that makes sense long-term.
Friends in service industry: I just lost my job, the unemployment website doesn't work, I have no idea how I'll pay rent next month or afford food.
Friends in tech: Let's do a Zoom happy hour, and talk about how fat we're all getting from ordering food and not going to the gym.
Talking to users and shipping frequent updates is how Stargaze has operated since launch. It all started with a single static page of collections almost two years ago.
☆ UI Improvements
Marketplace:
- Lowest floor prices shown per trait
- Available traits are now filtered when selecting Auctions or Buy Nows
Profile:
- "Newest" now sorts your NFTs by most recently acquired
$STARS
I'd take product-market-fit over narrative-market-fit any day. There's few things more satisfying than building and growing with a passionate user base.
Stargaze's 30-day retention for active wallets in the depths of the bear was up to 69%, excluding airdrops.
Really don't understand the massive investment into EVM / parallel EVMs when better and more modern VMs exist. It's like dumping millions into PHP in 2010. Doesn't make any sense.
If you can't code, you have no business telling projects to move faster. Building is about 1000x harder than trading. Learn to code and do it yourself.
Speak to many devs that don’t realize
@StargazeZone
is a CosmWasm chain. Not only is it a CosmWasm chain, it was one of the very first. And 100% of the apps are built in it. Apps with thousands of organic retail users who aren’t just there to farm points or tokens.
Just an incredible outpouring of love and support the past two days. So grateful for this community. Want to do right by creators and fix things. They lost a lot more than they should have.
If you're an actual user, a highly optimized frontend using a fast indexer is much more important to UX than any chain-level optimizations like parallel txns or optimistic execution.
People that haven’t tried Stargaze:
Cosmos has bad UX
People that have tried Stargaze:
> For once, a project's UX is easy to use, I commend them. In a few clicks, you can bridge your funds, whether from another ATOM chain (Cosmos Swap) or Ethereum/L2.
@CelestineSloths
– the future mascot of the
@CelestiaOrg
community is a sloth.
→ Why a sloth? The former name of Celestia was LazyLedger ().
As we are beginning to understand, having a lively community for a project is crucial for its success (some…
Choosing the right co-founders is the most important thing you'll ever do as a founder. Some hard learned lessons:
- Never pick someone you've known less than a year
- You should have worked with them before
- Should be the same level of degen
- Drop them on the first red flag
.
@StargazeZone
is already climate-friendly by being a proof-of-stake chain. But today it went the extra step by purchasing carbon credits through
@regen_network
, becoming the world's first truly carbon-neutral NFT platform.
The pay-to-play nature of crypto conferences is getting a bit ridiculous. Organizers should leave some wiggle room for speakers based on merit and organic product-market-fit. Authenticity is needed for mass adoption and bringing in new builders.
All these supposedly fast L1s with chain level optimizations struggling to handle load shows that the end user scalability bottleneck is actually on the backend and frontend. Need fast indexers and APIs. This is what Stargaze focused on and why it’s so fast and can handle heavy…
Stargaze has decided to part ways with former co-founder Jake Hartnell. Jake has returned his original 30M STARS genesis allocation to Stargaze Foundation. The remaining co-founders Shane and Jorge are 100% dedicated to Stargaze and will never stop building.
Details 👇
This is gonna sound cheesy as hell but what I’m most proud of about Stargaze is not the product itself but the team we’re building. A team that can ship fast while effectively dealing with conflict, drama, and whatever else you can throw at us.
I like the price discovery that is occurring between
the $LAB token,
what people are willing to mint a
@madscientists_x
nft for
And the ones being traded on
@StargazeZone
As price falls more minting will happen.
This is cool.
NFTs don't have to be just jpegs, they can also be:
- delegation NFTs
- LP NFTs
- position in a yield vault
- anything in DeFi representing a position
And soon you'll be able to transfer them with ICS-721, an IBC protocol for cross-chain NFT transfers.
Crypto should have a thin CeFi layer and fat DeFi layer. CeFi should be only fiat on-ramps and custody solutions for those that want it.
That's it.
Everything else can be built in DeFi. Much more transparency and less systematic risk this way.
community has to be very intentionally built. slowly and deliberately. airdrops have to be meticulously planned and fairly distributed. if not you end up with mercenary capital and a user base that’s mostly ultra degen with toxic elements.
Next year is the year of
@IBCProtocol
. We'll see fewer ecosystem maxis as all chains become interconnected. We'll see fewer copycat apps across chains and more innovation. Chains will go into the background as the focus shifts more to apps.
Two major trends right now:
- Pivot to Ethereum L2. e.g., Astar Network, Canto, Celo, Eclipse...
- Launch their own Cosmos chains. e.g., dYdX v4, Berachain, Sei...
Cosmos UX is getting better with native stablecoins, one-click IBC, Outposts, etc. & is ready to compete 👀
@jack
check out smart contracts in rust jack,
@CosmWasm
. deploy it on your own chain that’s more decentralized than bitcoin or ethereum and with no VCs.
Stargaze has built many things over the past 3 years as one of the first
@CosmWasm
chains in Cosmos.
But what I’m most proud of is this is incredible team of shipooors. . They give it all every single day.
Chains that used scammy tactics like trading and social media bots, and had founders that shill the token, didn't survive the last bear. The same thing will happen this cycle. Retention is the best metric of survival -- signals a strong non-mercenary community.
just to highlight how sticky
@osmosiszone
retention is:
48% of those who used osmosis on june 2021 also used osmosis on january 2024.
osmosis OGs are built different.
Teams of researchers and countless hours spent on governance and mechanism design. Yet it's $HUAHUA thats bringing in the users. There's a lesson there.
Can't believe
@StargazeZone
is going head-to-head with
@BuildOnBase
which is backed by the second biggest exchange in the world.
Vote here to migrate Rekt Bulls to Stargaze:
There is a
@rekt_gang
holder vote happening right now on where to migrate the Rekt Bulls collection (they are currently on a ded chain Juno). As one of top 3 holders of the collection, I'll share my thoughts on the two proposed options and why I'm voting the way I am:
One thing that makes Stargaze stand out is we focus on building one killer app at a time, instead of building the same 20 undifferentiated apps all at once.
Stargaze is taking the build apps + retail community *then* scale approach, while almost everyone else is taking the scale, *then* build apps + retail community approach. It's like ya'll took startup best practices, and doing it in reverse order.
End users have higher EQ than devs. They’ve been rugged so many times that all they ask for is devs to be authentic. They can smell it when they aren’t.
I hope big centralized entities will finally learn not to use leverage and trade customer funds. Decentralized systems are built different.
@StargazeZone
can't trade user funds even if it wanted to.
The keys are yours.
The code is published.
The chain is public.
"I'm into DeFi but think NFTs are silly" is probably the dumbest take I hear in crypto. That means you don't think media, games, ecommerce, or real estate will ever come on chain. You don't think provable attribution to content is important in a future of ubiquitous deep fakes.
@jpatten__
The success of Bad Kids has nothing to do with Celestia. It's the hard work of
@badkidsart
and
@StargazeZone
. In fact neither Bad Kids nor Stargaze repos got the TIA airdrop, despite building some of the most used products in Cosmos.
Big leap forward! Using
#ICS721
, we successfully transferred an NFT on testnet from
@IRISnetwork
to
@StargazeZone
This is a cross-chain NFT transfer that happened between different implementations of ICS721 (x/nft module <> wasm contract)!
