Family physicians are leading the fight against resurgent measles at a time when many patients have forgotten what’s at stake. This is the moment to hear our patients’ concerns and offer them evidence-based counsel.

How online are you? According to AAFP survey data, 54% of millennials and 42% of all adults are connected to their clinicians on social media or want to be.

My colleague @RussellKohl says in the story, “Volume-based, fee-for-service care doesn’t adequately support the comprehensive, continuous nature of primary care, and it doesn’t keep costs in check.”.

Relationships really do build trust. I told Patient Care last month that about a quarter of the vaccinations I give are not for the patient I am seeing but rather the spouse who has come to the appointment.

I was pleased to join NPR’s @npratc to talk about childhood vaccination, the threat of measles and how important it is for us to build relationships with our patients.

The U.S. has come a long way in disease prevention, in large part thanks to vaccines, I wrote in @medpagetoday. Congress should eliminate confusion & barriers to access and allow physicians to vaccinate all eligible patients. #ImmunizationAwarenessMonth.

ICYMI: I recently told @MedEconomics we’re really at a tipping point. Congress has got to act to fix Medicare physician reimbursement — not just for physicians but for our patients.
