Ottawa residents were trying their best to keep cool under dangerous conditions on Sunday, with temperatures making it feel like 40 degrees.

No surprise here. Shelters aren’t a solution to homelessness. Housing is.

Hello, Ottawa. Earlier today, many of us saw tweets about a situation at the Rideau Centre. Recently, we learned the police operation is now over (though the investigation is ongoing). While this is indeed welcome news, we'd like to take a moment to address something. (1/4)

Ask me how it was at work today trying to de-escalate people while the noise of truck horns is blasting through the air!
Shepherds of Good Hope, whose ambulance parking space was taken by a truck, whose staff were abused and threatened, and who were forced to feed "protesters", is trying to calm residents and staff who have been subjected to 48 hours of horn-blasting.

Flew home today (surprise) and sat down only to realize I was sitting beside a childhood best friend of mine who I haven’t seen in 3-4 years! East coast Christmas flights are truly something special 🎄

It’s been interesting to see the similarities from province to province in the population and the work. It’s been a really eye opening experience. Check out the article above if you’re curious about the scope of homelessness in Canada’s capital.

In case anyone on my Twitterverse is wondering what I’ve been up to, I’ve been working at a drop in for homeless women and children here in Ottawa. I had the chance to participate in this research as an interviewer. https://t.co/fcil4Tvrth

The city and dozens of organizations are hoping to glean how the pandemic and various social stressors are affecting Ottawa's unhoused population, and where they are spending their nights.

If anyone wants to take over organizing an order of YIMBY shirts now that I’m in Ottawa, it sounds like they may be useful again 😜 Thank you @ReporterTeresa for this article. It perfectly captures how a lot of us feel towards the COC.

I read this article and immediately felt heard. It gave me a sense of relief knowing I wasn’t the only one going through this weird mix of emotions. I share today so maybe someone else in my shoes can relate and feel seen. https://t.co/jQO3FH651A
