Until the end, he never compromised his vision and his truth. We in the SFFR extend our sympathies to the family and friends that he left behind and enjoin all filmgoers to celebrate his life and works by watching his legendary filmography. 4/4

He knew the power of film and wielded it conscientiously, using the medium to cast light on the ills of Philippine society. But beyond his work behind the camera, he also worked fervently to preserve, restore, and make available to the public classic works of other filmmakers.

Though he is perhaps best known for socially conscious dramas (Batch '81, Sister Stella L.), he proved himself just as adept with romance (Kung Mangarap Ka't Magising), historical films (Bayaning Third World), horror (Itim, Kisapmata), and even comedy-musicals (Kakabakaba Ka Ba?)

The Society of Filipino Film Reviewers (SFFR) mourns the passing of Mike de Leon, a true master of the cinematic arts. From lensing Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag to helming some of Pinoy cinema's genuine masterpieces, he was one of the pillars of the Second Golden Age. 1/4

Had a fun time watching Posthouse. Scares are pretty standard but I liked it more on a thematic level. Ultimately to me this is a film about legacy and how the pressure of living up to that legacy can sometimes be a curse.

I thought Mudrasta was pretty cute. A very referential comedy that above all else espouses the moral to love your true self. It's not particularly deep or anything but I had a good time.

I have never seen this many local films showing at the same time na hindi film festival. That's crazy
