I want to identify a first for Ireland myself. I want to read more, both fiction and full non-fiction books. And I will continue to reject the pattern-recognition algorithms marketed as artificial intelligence.

I have a telescope now, so I'm planning to do some more seawatching. I'm also planning to diversify my knowledge beyond birds and nudibranchs - I'm currently thinking that barnacles might be interesting

For 2025, I have a few targets. Firstly, I'm going to see my first bee orchid to match my prize I'm also going to try and find a slender-billed curlew. That recent paper said there was only a 96% chance it's extinct

I made a few notable records: Linnaeus' spangle-wing, third record for NI, found in the library at QUB; hornet mimic hoverfly, first record for NI, stuck to a tree in the Holylands
