Gonna start collating all my work and pinning it here, so it's all nicely accessible for anyone (new or not) who doesn't fancy scrolling far 🧵

Shamelessly claiming this as an olimpico then I’m afraid 👍
#LEEARS The goal accreditation panel has adjudged Arsenal’s 38th minute goal as a Madueke goal.

Doesn't even touch the Bayern and Inter games for Arsenal, or like all the other Liverpool games this season

Wealth obviously matters but to act as if wealth isn't being directed into edges in physicals + SP bonus when it changed the game state in: both Madrid games, NUFC vs Bilbao, both games vs Atleti (twice vs LFC), and CFC vs Barca - is ignoring evidence tbqh
@barcasupreme It’s so lazy man. Set pieces or “physicality” isn’t why Madrid lost to pool/city or we lost to Chelsea or why Villarreal couldn’t beat City or why Bilbao lost to Arsenal/Newcastle or why Atleti couldn’t beat arsenal/pool.

So much here but being a leader on both xG and xGA is the easiest way to show how much of a shortcut physicality and set-pieces are for PL sides (and why the La Liga sides are regularly getting cut apart by them in Eng vs Esp games)
Calci piazzati nelle coppe europee: Campione di partite non enorme, ma, come mi aspettavo, Premier League chiaramente sopra tutti, con la Serie A abbastanza al passo rispetto alle altre

5 English teams straight through, another in the knockouts Set-piece GD (excluding weird OGs I can't track rn) LFC: +8 AFC: +5 CFC: +3 THFC: +2 NUFC: +2 MCFC: +1 Overall - 23 goals scored, 3 conceded The only 4 teams not to concede a set piece were English
The 2025-26 UEFA Champions League league phase comes to an end. Here is the final table showing the teams that finished in the top eight (going straight into the last 16) and teams finishing 9th-24th, who enter the play-offs.

Ife is a proper #prospect. Not seen as much as I’d like this year but his progression, build, and attitude to adding flavour to his play were such green flags I can’t imagine he’s slowed significantly. Big fan of this
Ife Ibrahim and Marli Salmon set to be in the Arsenal matchday squad vs Kairat today. #afc

Imo this is (part of) why we’re seeing Saka shifted wide in favour of putting Timber in central tight spaces. I don’t agree with it but if that’s the wider tactic I see *why* it’s happened
Arsenal crossing success at full-back Timber 2/32 Calafori: 3/20 White: 2/13 Hincapie: 2/10 Lewis-Skelly: 0/0

Just recorded a @potshotpod and I didn't even analyse one corner, consider my time utterly WASTED 👍

Trying to place emphasis on the hard stuff like tactics, player quality etc but I just can’t shake the “4 subs in the 58th minute, including our captain” as the biggest giveaway we might have a substantial problem here

Coming to the conclusion I should start watching basketball if only to improve my pattern recognition
@setpiecesicko not exactly the same but the same principles especially with the inbound skip pass (the overhit corner from saka)

Think the deeper play to Trossard is one of my favourite plays from Jover. Relies on good blind-side blocking (Timber there) to reliably create a chance to generate 6yd chaos, but also plays so much with opp. expectations. Bait them forward then exploit the space they exodus

Kind of goal that wasn’t given last year due to keeper interference, but is increasingly more valuable to games with the complete dearth of open-play ~anything~ Whether that’s a good thing or not idk, but it’s creating an extinction event for weaker, flappy GKs
⚒️✨ The moment West Ham ended a 10 game winless run in the Premier League! Callum Wilson with the winning goal in the 93rd minute against rivals Tottenham. ✅

If being the nodding dog the Jon's literary-to-football analogies is my legacy, then that is a good legacy to have
This phenomenon is likely: Generally, the effect of systematised pressing (specifically: man-to-man pressing); Set pieces becoming a risk-averse workaround; Coaches becoming too familiar with opponents. @Jon_Mackenzie speaking on @potshotpod, sums up the problem very nicely
