If you're tired of Premiere Pro always selecting the top timeline clip by default, uncheck "Selection Follows Playhead" in the Sequence menu. If you hate that your timeline Markers never adjust when clips are deleted/added, select "Ripple Sequence Markers" from the Markers menu.

Directors should listen to Art of the Cut! From Kevin Tent, ACE: Director Henry Ruben, did something I loved. After getting all the takes he needed, he had the actors do the scene w/o any dialogue - do all the action and blocking but don’t speak. We wound up using a lot of it.

Little AE tip that just came up on a user community: you can save frequent timeline searches! All you need to do is shift-click your search in the top search menu list.
