#Tunisia: "@pressfreedom welcomes the release of political commentator and lawyer Sonia Dahmani, whose 18-month imprisonment for peaceful commentary should never have occurred. We call on Tunisian authorities to ensure her release is fully unconditional." said @at_tgibson

🚨BREAKING: US citizen Saad Almadi's travel ban has been lifted & he's finally FREE & on his way home to his family in the United States.🕊️ Saad should have never spent a day imprisoned & trapped in #SaudiArabia. It's time to #FreeThemAll & #LetThemFly. https://t.co/lBaa4mrU9p

#SaudiArabia is imprisoning Manahel al-Otaibi, a fitness influencer for promoting women's rights online. She's been severely tortured, forcibly disappeared & denied medical care in jail. Is this what @POTUS meant when he called MBS' human rights record "incredible?" #FreeManahel

Sarah & Omar al-Jabri are the children of a former Saudi official who've spent 5+ years unjustly imprisoned in an effort to coerce their exiled father to return to #SaudiArabia. This is MBS' human rights record that @POTUS calls "incredible." https://t.co/Fw7n09nAJJ

US intelligence confirmed that MBS personally ordered Jamal Khashoggi's murder. Murdering & dismembering someone with a bone saw doesn't "just happen." https://t.co/8cANkmdCdA
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to

President Trump says MBS has been "incredible" on human rights. Tell that to the American family of humanitarian aid worker Abdulrahman al-Sadhan who was arrested, forcibly disappeared, tortured & sentenced to 20 years in prison over satirical tweets - all under MBS' watch.

Quite a stunning moment in the Oval Office as President Trump asserts that MBS knew nothing about Jamal Khashoggi's murder despite how the CIA — under Trump, in his first term — found that the crown prince ordered it.

MBS’s Saudi Arabia just executed another Saudi journalist, Turki al-Jasser, a few months ago.

MBS: On the journalist, it's painful to hear anyone losing his life for no real purpose or it's been painful for us in Saudi Arabia. We did all the right steps of investigation.

Why is President Trump rolling out the red carpet for MBS while an elderly American father is trapped in #SaudiArabia simply for tweets he posted in the US? https://t.co/DaAub0JSga
75-year-old US citizen Saad Almadi is trapped in the kingdom for tweets he posted while living in the US. Trump himself said he would “look into” the case but has failed to bring Saad home. #LetSaadLeave

Saudi Arabia executions: His family say he was a fisherman, the Saudis say he smuggled drugs. On October 21 the Saudi state killed him, eight years after being detained. The family learned of his death through a cellmate.
cnn.com
Egyptian fisherman Mohamed Saad is one of hundreds of people executed this year in Saudi Arabia, most accused of non-lethal drug crimes. Campaigners worry US ties are giving the kingdom free rein.

As Biden did with his trip to Saudi in 2022, Trump welcoming MBS to DC, possible security guarantee, & major arms sales risks emboldening the Crown Prince’s reckless foreign policy and ruthless domestic repression. My latest piece with @WilliamHartung.

The Crown Prince will be getting the royal treatment at the White House on Tuesday and we all have to ask, why?

🚨 Tomorrow, #MBS will be welcomed into the White House. The visit will be his 1st since the gruesome murder of US resident and Washington Post columnist #JamalKhashoggi. Without pushback, the visit risks emboldening the crown prince’s reckless foreign and domestic policy🧵

In contrast, you have @jrezaian who takes a critical & realist look at MBS’s visit. He has personally experienced the type of brutal & unjust repression that is so rampant in MBS’s Saudi Arabia, which others at great human cost are too willing to overlook.
washingtonpost.com
The U.S. gains nothing by legitimizing the crown prince’s repressions.

MBS apologists providing “analysis” of the US-Saudi relationship are talking about the profound transformation & modernization MBS has accomplished, but at the same time excusing his government’s ruthless repression as somehow out of his control and difficult to reform.
MBS’s visit to DC will be his first since he approved the brutal murder of US resident and Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. Just a few months ago MBS executed another journalist, Turki al-Jasser, and he still has a US citizen, Saad Almadi, trapped in Saudi on a travel ban.

…condoned it, and at worst was actually involved in directing it. The U.S. must demand accountability and press for the release of all Saudi political prisoners, including blogger Raif Badawi and women’s rights activists.”

At the time Rubio said: “Our values as Americans must be central to our foreign policy. Saudi Arabia is an important ally but not an ally at any cost. There is no doubt that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman knew about the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi…
