Cedar Crest grad Joseph Carpenter hit his 14th home run and 24th double and drove in 2 runs but Long Island defeated Lancaster 10-5 Thursday to draw within 2 games of first-place Stormers. Carpenter has hit in 13 straight games and is batting .283. Lancaster at Gastonia tonight.

Cedar Crest grad Joseph Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored a run as Lancaster held off visiting Long Island for a 7-6 win Wednesday. He is now hitting .283. Stormers are 26-12, 3 games ahead of Long Island. They play again tonight.
