Loving a dog gives you courage.
Being loved by a dog gives you strength.
You'll find courage to get out of your comfort zone, push yourself, and do whatever you can to ensure it has a great life.
Somehow, a dog gives you the strength to do things you never thought you could.
I heard a strangers voice.
"Is he friendly?" they asked as they reached out to touch me.
"Yes, but he's working. No touching, please."
We reposition, so the wheelchair is between the stranger and I.
The stranger moves around the wheelchair and looks right in my eyes as they
Do Service Dogs get days off? Absawoofly. We have off days when it's not suitable to work.
For me, that's today. I'm tired and not my usual happy self. I snubbed breakfast, which is unusual. For the first time in ages, my shoulder has been really bothering me. I didn't even want
While standing behind the wheelchair in a narrow checkout aisle I smelled Wintergreen odor. This was the 1st odor I learned in scent detection! So I nosed it to show I found it but nobody cared. So I tried to retrieve it and apparently that's called shoplifting gum and is bad.
A local ice cream shop isn't accessible so we don't go there. But it was hot out and there was only one person in line so we asked him if he could take our money and get us something. He was happy to help but insisted on paying for our cone. That made my ❤️ smile.

If you're new to following me, my name is Kuno. I'm a lucky dog. When I was just a pup, my owner returned me to the breeder because I had seizures. 3 different vets wanted to euthanize me, but the breeder decided to keep me, took me off all the medication and eventually I outgrew

Today is Chesnyy's 1st Birthday!!!
She's already learned and done so much! Now come the ruff part. Teenagehood! But I'm confident she'll come through just fine and grow into an amazing working dog.
Let's see how many birthday wishes we can get for her!

I had an unexpected encounter with a loose human child. From a distance I heard the squeal "Puppy!!" and suddenly it came out of nowhere and velcroed itself to my neck. A big human swooped in and collected the little human but I think it left cheerio crumbs on me.
#ServiceDog
We haven't got a clue what the weather is today because it's been so busy.
So instead you can enjoy this picture of Chesnyy who not only earned her Pre Companion Dog Obedience Title this morning, but also won high in Class in intermediate rally (again) with a score of 98/100.
I'm too tall & long for my breed standards. I have too much light bellyhair. I would fail in the confirmation ring. I'm not the perfect Rottweiler.
But I am smart, kind, and amazing in my own way.
Don't worry about being perfect.
Just be the best you.

Tonight my dad passed away. He was affectionately dubbed G-Paw to his human and canine grandkids. It didn't come as a shock. He'd been struggling with health issues for quite some time but I believed we had more time than this.
Dads are supposed to be invincible.
I had a big goal in 2023. I wanted to be the first dog in the country to earn a Masters Title in Rally Obedience with a human using a wheelchair. I thought we needed more qualifying scores and I'd have to wait until spring.
But then this came in the last mail of the year. Turns
It's my birthday!
Since I can't have an in-person party with many scritches, boops and cookies from friends, I'd like to find as many new followers & friend as possible to share my birthday with. Cuz friends are what makes birthdays important.

In the human world, we may not have a lot. There's not much money, no big vacations and I know my human struggles with many things others don't.
But in the Dog world we're very well off. I always get fed and have warm comfy places to rest. And we have each other 🐾❤️

There's a tab so you can see tweets from those you follow now! Maybe this means I can finally see tweets from my friends again!
And maybe my friend can see me too!
Here's a selfie! Let me know if it lands in your Twitter feed!

I'm seeing a lot of "Nobody wants to be my friend" & "nobody likes my pictures" tweets lately.
That's not the Doggo Way. We don't feel sorry for ourselves and we only use guilt tactics for extra treats.
We sniff out happiness and that's where we find friends ❤

Never lay in the kitchen begging while humans cook. The most you'll get is a scrap.
Instead put your paw around something cute and wink. The human should quickly respond with "OH you're so sweet!" and immediately pay out.

Every night, I lay on the bed, and as she pulls herself from the wheelchair onto the bed, she puts an arm around me to pull herself the last few inches. Most times, it ends up with her awkwardly rolling onto the bed with her face near my giant paws, so I sneak in a nose kiss. She

Tonight I went for a 90 minute walk and was ready for my bedtime snack when I got home. Then when we got on the elevator there was a lovely young couple. One held a bag of groceries. The other held a rotisserie chicken. I was so good and made no attempt to sniff that chicken.
This week marks the 4 year anniversary of my human losing her legs. We've worked really hard since then. I've helped her learn a lot. We can do pretty amazing stuff like travel to dog shows and compete in obedience sports and go places and do presentations on inclusion. Fatigue

Today is my 7th birthday. And I think I've had the best year of my life. I have seen love, compassion, and kindness. I've licked teardrops off of cheeks, and wiggled joyously to the sound of laughter. I've won pretty ribbons and learned the best prize was the smile and the ear
Today, I visited my friends at the vet clinic. Instead of giving me treats, they shaved my leg and gave me a strange needle, and I don't remember much else until it was time to go home. I'm still very sleepy.

Today was an important day for me. It was my 3d annual Public Access Test. Every year my training and behavior is tested by a government approved

I did very well.
Sometimes humans have low self esteem. I know mine sometimes thinks the wheelchair and missing limbs makes her unattractive and like she doesn't belong.
So I kiss her on the nose, I make sure she knows she takes up exactly the right amount of space on the bed and that I think

Today we ended up someplace that isn't wheelchair accessible. The people going in and out gave us sympathetic glances. I could feel my person get anxious and embarrassed. Then she said "We aren't welcome here" and we left. I don't like places that make her feel that way.

Guess what happened today?
Chesnyy won high in class in her intermediate Rally Obedience!!!
The course was just as difficult as yesterday's but there were fewer stops and starts and the serpentines were far away from the wall so it was much easier to get around and she didn't
I was a bit jealous of the new puppy. She gets a lot of attention from everyone just cuz she's really cute. But once she went into her crate for sleep I was told "Kuno, working with her really reminds me just how much you understand and how easy everything is with you. I ❤️ you."
Someone suggested I get verified on Twitter. Twitter said I don't have enough followers to even apply.
Silly Twitter. It shouldn't be about the number, but rather the quality, and we all know I have the best followers on the interwoof.
Service Dogs take sick days too. I am not myself today. I didn't want breakfast. I was grumpy when a friendly dog was nearby, I started eating grass and threw up in the field near home and my shoulder is sore.
I'll feel better with meds & food but today is a rest day.
We weren't welcome to attend the grand opening event of the

Why?
The event, hosted by city councilor

was not accessible with a wheelchair. The public and their dogs were invited to join him, along with MP

It's very cold out and sometimes people who don't have a warm place to call home stop in our apartment building doorway to warm up. We give them a few granola bars for a snack and a bus ticket so they don't have to walk so far in this cold. It's not much but I hope it helps.

Chesnyy deserves lots of treats today! She got second place in both her intermediate classes with scores of 96 & 97 out of a 100.
She did one advanced class (advanced classes are done without leash and include a jump) and she struggled a bit with the distractions but she
I'm a bit sad. I've had some shoulder stiffness so my vet did x-rays. I've got some arthritis, possibly from an old injury.
As long as my duties are light, I can still work and I'll get injections and anti inflammatories. I'll be fine but apparently I'm not invincible.
LOOK WHAT I DID!!!
I scored 92/100 and got 3d place in my Masters Class and I scored 99/100 in my Excellent class. 3 of us tied for the high score but ties are broken by speed. We were the slowest but I still got a pretty third place ribbon!
Those are the highest scores I've
People often see my pictures and call me a "cute little guy". They don't believe I weigh just under 130lbs & have a 37" girth. So I tried to get a picture beside HumanFriend, an average sized adult male, to give a comparison. For some reason he didn't show up in the pic!

I'm a tired dog! We drove furever. Over 5 hours! That's like 3 days in dog time.
Then we had to find where we could set up crates at the dog show. A nice man helped carry them in. Good thing too, cuz the power doors were locked and a wheelchair would never get through the normal
Every night, I hop on the bed and wait for her to park her wheelchair beside the bed. She uses a wooden board to slide from the chair to the bed, but the bed is higher, so she reaches across and puts an arm over me to help pull herself the rest of the way. It always ends up as a
All the hard work paid off. We earned our Advance Rally Obedience title today AND the High Point ribbon!
This proves it. If you work really hard you can train your human to do all sorts of stuff!!!

A lot of humans are uncomfortable around my human cuz she's missing some parts. People don't easily accept those that are different so it can be hard to meet others.
Today a man approached us and introduced himself & his wife and it made me so happy. That's how inclusion starts.
We've watched closely as our food and supplements were measured into portion sized bags and labeled with each our names for this weekend. Only a few years ago I was teaching a human how to get to the park in her wheelchair. Now she's getting ready to drive us to another city
I was not an award winning sport dog today. And that's OK!
Our ring was hours behind schedule so after hanging out at a dog show for 8 hours I wasn't so interested in performing. I still did everything I was asked. I just did them slowly. Turns out I wasn't the only one feeling
Today Chesnyy turned 6 months old and has been with me 2 months. She's doing well. She has a good loose leash heel. Good sit/down/stand stay and recall unless other dogs run past (that'll take practice), fronts, finish left and right, and a backup. I've done a good job with her
I was extra good and helped with chores and did all the stuff I was asked. So it happened.
I got a single piece of bacon, just for me. Only one piece cuz too much can be bad for dogs.
But MY OWN BACON!
Life is great.

I rescued us tonight. The lanyard with the keys broke and they fell in the snow. My Mistress can't reach the ground from her wheelchair. If it weren't for me we could have been stuck outside a long time. Granted, we were only out cuz I needed to pee but still...

Chesnyy once again wins high in class in intermediate rally.
She's staying in intermediate a bit longer until she's a little older and more mature. The higher levels are all off leash and it's a really stimulating environment. She's still very young so we want to set her up for
This is Chesnyy. She was just informed that there are people who might think she's scary because she's a rottweiler. She is genuinely appalled and shocked by this. She thought everyone would like her as much as she likes everyone else.
But unlike many humans, she won't judge you
If you're a new follower, let me tell you about Chesnyy. She's my protégé and is learning to be a service dog so I can eventually retire and pursue my goal of running the world, being a renowned food critic and maybe even a superstar! She's young. Just a year old, but she's super
It's been a ruff weekend at this dog show. Chesnyy was very wary in the ring and not her typical happy self. Many of the young dogs seemed to have this issue. So we dropped her back down to intermediate and she had a very nice round and placed second.
We made the decision to end
Why should people care if we can't get into an event at a dog park? Because it's not just the event at the dog park. It's the sandwich shop we couldn't get into on the way home. It's the clothing store, ice cream shop, book shop and dozens of other places we pass most days and

It's me, Kuno.
I know you've assigned us dogs the task of helping the humans to learn to sniff out the happiness in the world, to appreciate the simple pleasures like a warm bed and a full belly and to just be good. It's been a harder job than we imagined,
Do you know who was a good boy today????
