Howdy, I'm Peter. This is me standing in a Vidalia onion packing shed. I build small, boutique web projects, often solo, sometimes with a partner. And I adore premium .com domain names. I like small business, and I believe small can be a destination. Cause sometimes small can

Everyone wants to build some software thing. You could just buy this expiring domain, move to DC, & begin giving historical walking tours. Pay @nickgraynews to train you (he gave NYC Met tours). Charge $100/head, or more. Walk 10k steps a day. Bask in history.

I often throw more & more onto my plate until I feel some sort of 'full' moment, maybe tinges of overwhelm. Not sure if it's the best way, but it's where I'm familiar. I reached that point for Vidalia this season, juggling customer support, operations, marketing, social media,.

We've had a challenging shipping season this year, so emails like this always lift our spirits 🙏

its purpose is years ahead of us on a yet to be launched project. Who knows. It's ours now, and helps promote our small American owned & operated onion farm. That's the tiny story on we acquired Onions․com. fin 🧅.

and he told them, and they all stood confused & amazed how he got that name, and he told them he "has a web guy" and that made me very proud. So it's possible this domain's purpose is for him to have a neat email address. Maybe.

Then I realized my farmer/partner was using a .net domain for email, & homey don't play that. So I set up his first name @ onions․com. He then attended a conference and someone asked him his email,.

Then I threw up a quick landing page that mentioned our farm & Vidalia shipping business. Was neat to witness type-in traffic up close. 250-500 visits / mo. From folks typing 'onions' into a browser, adding .com, pressing enter. No search engines. no links. Pure direct traffic.

So I reached out to the owner via email. Asked him if he'd accept $12k. He mentioned he had $18k in the domain, but if we could get the price to $15k it'd be a deal. I told him if he'd pay escrow, I'm in. So he did, and I bought it for $14,810. Essentially used onion $ to buy it.

He was right. But I didn't know what to do with it. My gut answered "it doesn't matter, just get it & you'll figure it out later.".

This could be the only period in your lifetime that this domain is for sale, at this reasonable level of a price. After this point, it won't be available for anything less than $100k.

And then a few more months went by, and Shazam, the domain is for sale on Flippa a third time. This was 2019. I raised my eyebrow at this point. I cross paths with my friend, @WarrenRoyal of Bobbleheads․com. He essentially told me this:.

Then things went quiet. A few months went by, then the domain appeared on Flippa *again. I thought that was weird, but whatever. From what I remember, the highest bid was around $5k, nowhere near the reserve. No sale.

I said thanks, but no thanks. Neat name though. [The domain failed to sell.].
