Hey, folks! I finally took control of this old Twitter account that I have started back in 2013. I have since made a new Twitter, and I am active with it. The new account is @seanballais, the same username that I used in this account before tonight. See you all!

(Me taking a break from studying) Expectation: Takes a break for 5 minutes. Reality: Consumes almost an hour chatting with friends.

One C++ 20 feature I'd like to use once C++ 20 compiler support matures is the `contains()` method of the STL unordered set. It conveys the intended message more effectively than using `.find()` for checking for the existence of an object in a container.

You know what would be nice to have? A machine learning-based application that can translate a doctor's handwriting in prescriptions to something more readable.

Effect of VSync on Your FPS (Note: The computation for the FPS is basic, and the formula is from Lesson 24 of Lazy Foo's SDL 2 tutorial.) Left: VSync On Right: VSync Off

In SDL 2, scan codes return the actual key being pressed, modeled after the QWERTY keyboard. On the other hand, key codes return the key values themselves. Example: Pressing 'O' in a Dvorak keyboard gives a scan code of 'S', and a key code of 'O'.

I find it so amusing that, here in Tacloban, the relief goods are not your typical canned goods and noodles. Rather, it's raw unprocessed food like whole chicken (yes, seriously) and fish. This is actually a good move from the city government.

Linking a library to your code? Make sure that the compilers used to compile the library and your code are ABI-compatible with one another.

I'm following this comment thread in an ABS-CBN News regarding Duterte's statement asking what those who criticize him have done to the country. I am disappointed that, in this particular thread, many Filipinos are using ad hominems over actual arguments.

Today I learned that, when debugging in C++, it is not always enough to simply check the stack trace to locate the source of a problem. Sometimes, you have to step into the execution flow to find the defect.

#cpp Got a class that has non-copyable members that you want to return by value? Don't forget to have a move constructor (and maybe a move assignment operator too) in that class.

@edgarfelizmenio I don't think we are ready for online classes because of students and faculty not having the basic minimum to stream videos. Di katulad sa Korea :)

In C++, this type, T*&, is a valid type. It's a reference to a pointer to a T object.

Been learning SDL 2. I experimented with animating a spritesheet, and got this little fella running.😄 Credits: "Running Caveman (Spritesheet)" by Hapiel, from https://t.co/U6IkjNMfx8, used under the CC-BY 3.0 license.

In hindsight, I should have taught my CS students last summer how to write a basic interactive GUI app, using a custom library built atop SDL 2.

Just started learning about SDL 2 through Lazy Foo tutorials. It's quite fun to use it actually. It takes more work to use it compared to SFML though.
