Lost coyote? Enjoyed our first good #snow tracking session inside @BRFConsortium. This #coyote seems to check out our kiosk. Low #animal activity, but scenic.

Congrats to the @NYSDOT on their $324k award from the #WildlifeCrossingsPilotProgram and happy to say I had a small part in it! This allows us to develop a toolkit for identifying #roadkill and #connectivity opportunities. Safer roads! I look forward to working with you all!

'Tis the season for #cameratrapping at @BRFConsortium for me. Here's a nice sequence of a #bobcat mother and nearly full-grown kitten. Atypically interested in the lure. #wildlife

Stumbled across this #Ambystoma maculatum while checking #cameratraps inside @BRFConsortium yesterday. Any #herp folks know why it was out? #fieldwork

Apparently not a coyote tower of power. The coyotes failed to get the bait, but his crafty, bold #fox did!

Another interesting article by @ben_a_goldfarb on one of the understudied linear #infrastructure behemoths outside: enough fencing to reach the sun! #wildlife #movements

Laid end to end, the world’s fences would reach the sun. What are they doing to wildlife?

#SnapShotUSA is an easy, fun way to contribute to large-scale #ecology research. Perfect for getting #students of all ages involved. 2024 season is coming up quick so go sign up and check out their loaner program.
Out now: new paper with our @sdlapoint and the #SnapShotUSA #cameratrap crew reveals climate is the best predictor of mammal abundance, followed by human population, agriculture, and hard-mast #tree abundance. The paper and data are free online! 🔗 https://t.co/aSxYtBPoLM

#Birdfeeding can be an excellent winter pastime, but if you leave them out too long, you’ll attract hungry #bears in spring! Our #cameratraps suggest your 🐦 feeders are bear-safe between mid-January and mid-March, so you can avoid attracting 🐻 to your backyard.

I really want to to dig more into these potential relationships. If you're looking for a #deer #ecology project or data, reach out! We can find #funding.
For nearly 40 years we've recorded several datasets on our #deer population, including #snowtracking surveys, regulated harvest, acorn counts, and now pellet counts and #cameratrap surveys. These datasets and more guide our forest management objectives.

This fall we participated in #SnapShotUSA using our #cameratraps to document #mammal species in #Newburgh and #BlackRockForest. It was a great opportunity to help @newburghschools students see what lives around the @CityOfNewburgh, including #coyote, #bobcat, and #greyfox!
