getting back, much easier on the eyes now that he’s been released from his orange shackles. main shapes and colors are in, but i’m going to look away and focus on the foreground sheet before i start carving out the face/body more. using a lot more green than expected!

due to other pressing matters he’s been in a tape cast for a few days, but with the background at a solid 90%, i felt all hallow’s eve was a good time to release him from said tape prison time to finally start working on likeness!

working on this a little over the weekend. established my light sources overall, but i plan on tape-masking over mr de lioncourt while painting the background to maintain a strong silhouette. background for this will also be painterly/impressionistic. all focus on figure!

(i didn’t intend to mention twice that this was commissioned, but i swore i forgot in the original post. i promise i am not just drawing sexy vampire man because the vibes are right, though i absolutely would)

letting it cure for a while, but i hit it with a layer of clear gesso mixed with gold, 300 grit sanding. i might seal all of this with the lightest layer of clear varnish, since the final varnish always weirdly forces the prismacolor pigment back up through the acrylics??

THIS IS A COMMISSION BTW i only get like 3-5 giant painting commissions a year 😭♥️ i haven’t watched the new series yet! tinting the canvas! the reference sent is very warm, but there’s a hint of cool-toned lighting coming from our right-hand side. literally setting the tone.
