A great example of how Public Health Laboratories and public health agencies save lives! Public health laboratories screen 97% of America’s newborns in the first days of life, saving lives each year.
A Minnesota newborn was diagnosed with a rare congenital disorder called Krabbe disease. The Minnesota Newborn Screening Program first identified signs that the baby might have the disease. Read more: https://t.co/kctiUv63OR

These large national cohorts provided data that supported healthcare policymaking across the public and private sectors. They were some of the most important works that only CDC was able to perform - and execute well - as a national representative survey. https://t.co/AWontefD87

NHANES has collected data on eating patterns, diabetes, and other common diseases for decades. The CDC team that runs it has been fired.

The Michigan Newborn Screening Program is celebrating 60 year. NBS is a public health program that touches nearly every Michigan newborn. NBS works because a coordinated system of players help to make sure every baby has an opportunity to be tested and treated quickly, if needed.

Another victim of political violence who deserves to be memorialized and honored is David Rose who was gunned down by a radical as he ran to protect employees of the CDC. A beautiful tribute from @BillKristol in today's newsletter. https://t.co/tp3WzDmj52

#ServantLeadership means that you help build the ladder. Trying to climb it before everyone else can is missing the point, and also missing the opportunity to watch people excel and grow in ways you can help facilitate.
Real impact doesn't come from climbing higher than everyone else. It comes from helping others reach heights they couldn't reach alone.

Michigan’s Newborn Screening Program began in 1965 as a result of Dr. Guthrie’s screening technology for detection of phenylketonuria (PKU). Since then, the newborn screening panel in Michigan has expanded to screen for 59 disorders. For more info, visit https://t.co/punHQOkYpH.
