It’s #phillippsmss week at @cultivate_mss. Featuring one of our MSS owned by Sir Thomas Phillips
This spectacular early medieval #PhillippsMSS was sold at auction in 1945. It came to auction again in 1997 and was bought by Lawrence J. Schoenberg, founder of @schoenbergdb. It was given to the University of Pennsylvania by Barbara Brizdle Schoenberg in 2014, where it's LJS 101

@schoenbergdb @cultivate_mss In the last two centuries, MS D2 was listed for sale by several booksellers, including @Quaritch, different iterations of @Sothebys, Francis Edwards (@haycinemabooks), and E. P. Goldschmidt & Co., from whom @kulibraries purchased the manuscript in May 1956. #kansasmanuscripts

Congrats to SDBM Super Editor @LauraJCleaver on this phenomenal award to study the manuscript trade in the early 20th century! The SDBM stands ready to help in any way!
Absolutely delighted that I have been awarded ERC funding for 5 year project on the trade in medieval manuscripts in the early 20th century. Very excited about doing this research into some of Europe's cultural treasures. Huge thanks to everyone who has supported me! #ERCCog
