Exclusive breastfeeding can prevent 13% of deaths in children under 5 globally. It also protects mothers by reducing the risk of breast and ovarian cancers, type 2 diabetes, and postpartum depression. Supporting breastfeeding means valuing women’s health too.

When mothers are supported through family, workplaces, and health systems, they are more likely to breastfeed successfully. Creating breastfeeding-friendly environments is a powerful investment in human capital and child well-being.
