(13) Another learning from yesterday is that Cyber crime helpline doesn’t register your complaint unless fraud has happened. They did not even take any details about caller or links that were shared.

(12/n) There was no response and I disconnected the call. Maybe another 15 to 20 seconds would have given him access to bank account. There was no transaction done but I have temporarily blocked all the access to the account.

(11/n) He gave vague answers like this will help you with door to door service, the process is 70% done, please be on call. I asked firmly, “but tell me exactly what was happening?”.

(10/n) I started receiving coded messages from SBI UPI which is when I asked what exactly is happening? Can it be done offline?

(9/n) 2)The app gave me a warning before installing. It was not a blue dart app. This is where I felt that something was fishy but with a mindset of getting the booking done and because I had called the service myself, I continued.

(8/n) Few more signs: 1)This website did not have any payment gateway but instead was taking mPIN as an entry after you shared basic details such as name, phone number, Bank account to be used.

(7/n) He mentioned that the payment can be made on this site using UPI. Additionally, he shared an app link which apparently was to be used to track the package. (I believe it was to track my messages so that he can initiate net banking payment)

(6/n) 2)The whatsapp message came from another number +91 8981761107 and it did not have a bluedart logo. (I thought it to be a third party delivery services)

(5/n) He highlighted that he would share a link on WhatsApp which I can use to make a payment of Rs 20 to confirm my booking. Some signs that I could have picked upon: 1) By this time I had realized that the call was not continuing on the toll free number, it went to 8240331935

(4/n) Without any IVR messages (1st sign), it was connected to an agent who shared the pricing details and went onto the process for getting the courier picked from my home.

(3/n) I had to get something couriered hence searched for Bluedarts’s customer care number, copied the toll free number and called it.

(2/n)Though I realized that something was fishy and saved myself from being a cyber crime victim, I ignored some clear signs which would have reduced my call time with scammer and saved me from some unnecessary thrill.
