The biggest Covid-19 threat to India is the well-off "entitled" Indian, who pops a Crocin on the flight to lower body temperature, whines about long airport queues, lies about travel history, disobeys quarantine orders, cribs that the isolation facility is less than 5-star. 1/2

Truly fed up with this Savarkar "mercy petition" BS. He was held by the British for 27 YEARS (14 in jail, incl. 10 in Andamans, then 13 confined to Ratnagiri). NO OTHER INDIAN LEADER earned such distrust/ fear from the British. They, rightly, didn't believe the petitions at all.

@somnath1978 Some months ago, Rajan said that India should not encourage manufacturing because that would add to global warming :) 1980 JEE rank 100, IIM-A medalist, steadily going nuts. Fascinating to watch.

Fantastic effort by @ARanganathan72 on Indian scientists we don't remember any more. Read the whole series and know about these forgotten and selfless Indians. We need this.

Ram and John. Their paths would cross decades later, but by then those paths would be run over by blood & politics, not science & scholarship. Co-authored column (Part II) on the the forgotten genius Col. Chopra. [Long read.] #ForgottenIndianScientists

"Brain drain". Today, India’s finest engineers are not going off to the West as soon as they get a BTech . If you are good, India offers great opportunities to fulfil your potential and also be as global as you want to be. @moneycontrolcom ?

It's interesting and very entertaining to see Western commentators accusing India of racism because most Indians are just laughing at the West in this India-Canada row. "Derision" is the word. How low they have fallen, how insecure and desperate! Clutching at straws.

Terrifying! The Economics faculty of Ashoka University (and also the English and Creative Writing faculty, apparently) threaten to go on strike! GDP growth in danger, idea of India under threat—fascists are now questioning the math and methodology of an academic paper!!

An illogical and uninformed woke-ism is infecting India's young. Prime example: "Climate activists" like #DishaRavi fighting for the environmentally worst farming practices. My @livemint column.

I have been wondering about this for decades, hearing and reading people using this phrase, and have finally decided to ask. What/who is "civil society"?

My piece on the "liberals". First of all, they are illiberal. They are fake, elitist, dishonest and out of touch with reality. They are for democracy as long as the common people vote according to their wishes, otherwise they are idiots.

In 1976 Chairman Mao died. Intnl Dev economist Steven Radelet says “In 1976, Mao single-handedly and dramatically changed the direction of global poverty with one simple act: he died.”

Whenever I log in to Facebook, I get an Oxfam ad saying that India is a hellhole. The ads (made by social science types who can't do arithmetic but quote numbers) both amuse and irritate me. Of course, the aim is to get some money out of us. Sorry, Oxfam.

Please follow @icelandcricket . The funniest and quirkiest cricket handle in the world. Let's help this lovely little country with its 132 part-time players achieve the magic figure of 100,000 followers (they're quite close to it).

Thank you @Paperclip_In for the thread on JC Bose’s pioneering work in plant neurobiology against all odds and how it was suppressed. Let me to add a thread to this. Perhaps JCB’s greatest achievement was in electronics, which was suppressed even more. 1/n

There may have been many who missed the quirky mention of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose in Wes Anderson's latest film,Asteroid City, set in a fictional desert town in America's West. Ironically, a century ago,America's elite scientists had waged a war against this brilliant mind.1/20

Remember when eminent Indians publicly wished that Jacinda Ardern was PM of India? Ardern has quit as NZ PM. She was a dismal failure on all fronts, including Covid. This is the first nation-scale defeat of deluded woke politics. 1/2 @moneycontrolcom

1/n This is one of the most regressive columns I've read in a long time. That the National Ediucation Policy recommending that children start learning coding from Class VI onwards reeks of caste and class bias. In fact it is exactly the opposite!
