What explains the rioters at the Capitol? Mob mentality plays a role, but there’s another key factor: orders from a charismatic leader, as I describe in my latest piece for ⁦@usatodayopinion⁩.

When someone as powerful as the president tells a large group of his supporters to 'fight like hell,' they will listen to him and feed off each other.

The stock market is down but at least everything is more expensive and services are getting shittier. On the other hand we have more measles. To be fair, they are finally delivering the reductions in FAA and National Parks staff that people have been demanding.

Most who want Biden to stay are acting out of a good-faith belief that he's our best chance to win. Most who want him to step aside are acting out of a good-faith belief that he isn't. It's imperative we recognize that, & have this conversation in a way that doesn't destroy us.

Waiting more than 5 hours for a flight to take off … with a gate agent who will give no information about if/when we might leave, no food or drink offered to passengers, and the longest line I’ve ever seen for customer service. @AmericanAir @DFWAirport

Thirty years ago today I was married in Atlanta (Fulton County, to be exact). And I’m so excited to learn that the traditional 30th anniversary gift is an indictment.

Thoroughly enjoying @SandersonSpeaks book ā€˜The Bystander Effect: Psychology of Courage and How to be Brave’. It’s an excellent book that explains our behaviour in groups vis-a-vis alone, the reasons behind and how to fix it. Highly recommend.
