Well into my fourth decade of covering the Buffalo Bills for the Democrat and Chronicle. I'm told I'm a pretty good husband and dad. Author of 22 books
Now is a great time to sign up to receive my FREE Yankees newsletter, Pinstripe People. Jam packed with insight and analysis of every game, other MLB takes, plus great history stories. Here's the link:
Think about this. The
#Bills
are trying to prepare to play two unbeaten teams and they still have no idea if or when the games will be. The NFL is a joke, such an arrogant entity building a schedule without any contingencies for something all of us knew would happen.
If this latest forecast is accurate , the Bills-Dolphins game should be pushed to Sunday night. It's beyond stupid to me for 70,000 people to be trying to get to and from the stadium in a raging storm, then dealing with shoveling their cars out in the lots after the game ends.
And then, Lamar Jackson, who absolutely was NOT the league MVP, wins in a landslide. Josh Allen, who was the MVP if I had a vote, finishes fifth? Behind Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy? I mean, the stupidity of these voters is astounding to me
You can shove the Music City Miracle where the sun don't shine. That right there is the worst loss in Bills history. That's the one. There's just no way that should have ever happened
The Bills ultimately moved down only five spots from 28 to 33, and picked up a third-round pick, got a better fourth-round pick, added a fifth-rounder and now Beane has plenty of ammo to make more moves, maybe up. Why is everyone freaking out? There are several WRs right in the
Seriously, it's going to be incredibly hard for the Bills to cut some of their players. They have talent everywhere. What a world we're living in after all that misery of 17 years without the playoffs
Right around 6 tonight it’s really gonna hit Bills fans what might have been. Because at around 6 tonight, the Bills should have been celebrating a blowout victory over the Bengals and a trip to the super bowl.
@salmaiorana
Lamar is a prettier in accurate passer. The truth is, he’s playing the same way he has all year. Difference is a really good defense and his own defense is to bailing him out.
Reading my timeline is fascinating. People, this was not a football decision! This was a common sense, safety decision. Just last year, 31 people died in a blizzard in Buffalo. Do you really think anyone with a brain wanted to risk another disaster? Man, football fans are insane
The NFL is pointless. The despicable empire is just going to roll all the way to another title. No one is gonna beat this team and they haven’t even dressed the despicable wide receiver yet.
So I’m clear. The US played approximately six-plus hours of soccer in the World Cup and scored three goals. And this is supposed to be something I should be interested in?
As a native Buffalonian who grew up with Boston teams being the arch enemy in every sport, it kills me how so many Buffalonians root for the Red Sox. I’ll never understand it.
I remember a time, not too long ago, when there was an excited anticipation before every Bills offensive possession. Now there is just waiting for doom. It's amazing what has happened to this team
Another incredibly lazy job by the media just handing Brady the MVP. Let's just give it to the winning QB like we do every year. Meanwhile, there were probably 3-4 guys on the Bucs defense who deserved it way more.
What a joke the NFL awards were. Damar Hamlin loses out on the the comeback award to Joe Flacco? Why, because Flacco was able to get off his couch and play pretty good for a few weeks? More of a comeback than a guy nearly dying yet returning to play? Idiots who voted. All of them
At the risk of infuriating the masses, that's four absolutely horrendous Allen interceptions in the last 4-plus quarters. Not one came where the defense made a great play. All four were thrown right to them.
Mitch Morse signs with the Jaguars. I really didn't like the
#Bills
releasing him. They could have easily reworked his contract to get his cap number down. The O-line was coming back intact, and now they're mixing it up. Just doesn't make much sense to me
The NFL has a solution to the impending weather problem in Buffalo if it chooses, though it probably won't. Monday is a holiday, many people are off, so move it to Monday afternoon as the lead in to the Monday night game
Seriously, I can't believe what I'm watching. This is almost as perfect a half of football as the Bills played in the 1990 AFC title game, the 51-3 game against the Raiders.
Kaiir Elam's dad, Abram, was with the Browns in 2009 when they played the Bills in Buffalo. The Browns won 6-3, one of the worst NFL games I've ever watched. Do you remember that one?
More than a foot of snow is expected in Orchard Park today. Winds are blowing steady at 25-30, gusting higher. You can't see where you're going on the roads. Stadium is probably inaccessible and unusable. And still, idiots continue to be pissed the game was pushed back a day.
Bills might be the most overrated team in the league. But that won't be the case now because they're going to be rated where they deserve to be. In the mediocre category.
I’ve seen some people on Twitter and Facebook lamenting the Bills raising ticket prices. For all those who continue to lobby for a new stadium, what do you think will happen to ticket prices then? Bills fans pay the cheapest ticket prices in the NFL. Gonna be a rude awakening
All you idiots calling me out for a tweet I made seconds after Hamlin went down, thinking like every one of you that it was a normal football injury, with obviously no knowledge how serious it was, shut up and back off.
Sad day at the
@DandC
as the company refuses to be fair to its already vastly underpaid employees - which has gone on for the 38 years I've been employed there - and now, as of 12:01 a.m., we journalists are on strike. So, I guess I'll see you when I see you, as they say
If you were ever wondering how much of a joke the Pro Bowl is, Rodger Saffold being added to the AFC roster should confirm it. He was literally one of the worst guards in the NFL this season. Laughable.
Mike Trout about to sign for $430 million. Bryce Harper signed for $330 million. I'd say that's about right because Trout is that much of a better player than Harper.
No questions now. We severely overrated the Bills. Fooled by all the blowouts over shitty teams. This is who they are, a team that will have to fight just to make the playoffs
We know the Jets stink, but the Bills playing without CBs Josh Norman and Levi Wallace, John Brown at WR, Dawson Knox at TE, Cody Ford at LG, and possibly without CBs Tre White and Cam Lewis and LB Matt Milano (questionable) poses some problems. This may not be a layup game
I talked to Jordan Poyer on locker cleanout day and I told him, in my opinion, there's no way the
#Bills
would cut him. Mainly because losing him and Micah Hyde in the same year would be pretty tough. He said, "Don't be so sure." Well, he was right. Great career in Buffalo.
So for all you "football weather" people out there, this is what happens in football weather. It equalizes the game for the underdog. The conditions are awful and both offenses have been lousy.
Where's the star MLB Edmunds? Has he made one game-changing play this season? Where's Ed Oliver, another high draft pick? This defense doesn't have one true difference-maker.
I really don't understand some of you McDermott haters. Really, it's insane to me. Barring a total collapse, they're going to the playoffs for the fifth time in six years. After not going the 17 years before he got here. Stop.
OK, so the Bills are in. But that's not the goal. Beating Miami and getting the No. 2 seed is what matters most. This Bills team is not making any playoff run as a No. 7 seed. It needs to be home at least twice, maybe three times
