Our first panel at #WomenHEConf25 has concluded, titled From Policy to Practice. Dr Nadifa Sheikh Omar, Amina Osman Haji Jama, Mrs Hawa Dirie Mohamed, and Dr Mohamed Abdullahi Gure shared reflections on the barriers and possibilities facing Somali girls and women.

Today’s conference was a valuable platform for sharing knowledge and experiences. I was honored to participate and to share a message on women’s leadership. My message to Somali girls is this: keep striving perseverance and patience are the true paths to success.

The energy at #WomenHEConf25 remains strong as participants engage in meaningful conversations and deepen their reflections throughout the day. The room is full of connection, learning, and shared purpose, showing the power of Somali women coming together.

Dr. Caroline Tunnen highlighted Mawazo’s work in supporting African women researchers and closing mentorship and skills gaps, now reaching 152 women in 28 countries. She celebrated Sarah’s leadership in creating this space. #WomenHEConf25 #WomenInResearch #WomenInAcademia
