Changing majors every year bc you don’t even know what you are interested in yet lol like why are you paying thousands of dollars a year just to get to know yourself?? Get to know yourself first and then invest in the education that will help you reach your goals.
@sagistarbb
Mmm… debatable. That’s why schools have the option of going in as “undeclared” and if not, ain’t nothing wrong with changing majors. That’s literally what college is for… Don’t gotta have it all together.
@imjadezolanski
U don’t have to have it ALL figured out but u do have to have a general idea of ur goals & what you’re interested in. Going in undecided is great until you’re paying for extra semesters. Too many ppl are forced to go to college before they are ready bc that’s what is expected.
@sagistarbb
Agreed! I also could care less about the information I was learning towards my GE. Going back in my late 20s I see the value in all the information I’m learning. Life requires knowledge beyond your “career”.
@sagistarbb
I was forced to go to college when I knew I wanted to take a gap year. But since parents think they know everything; look at me now 🥴🥴🥴 college dropout 💁🏼♀️💁🏼♀️💁🏼♀️ (not proud, but just saying I probably would be in school rn If I did have that gap year
@sagistarbb
Learned the hard way, I knew I needed a break and wanted to take a gap year. Unfortunately, my family forced me to go and I ended up doing poorly
@sagistarbb
agree. at the very least they should make college much more fluid/flexible for the first year minimum. like no one should have a “major” until sophomore year. at my freshman welcoming ceremony we were all divided in colored shirts by our schools (business, communications etc.).
@sagistarbb
I did community college for 4 years until I was ready for a full on university and it was the best decision ever :) I got a higher GPA, better organization and maturity and I would not be as successful as I am now if I went straight to a college
@sagistarbb
Yep and taking student loans out at 17 with zero conception of how difficult they will be to pay back is a huge mistake I made that I hope young people don’t make anymore
@sagistarbb
I wasted a ton of time and money bc I had to drop out and didn't figure out what I actually wanted to do until after my 9H profection year.
@sagistarbb
i chose civil engineering only because my mom wouldn’t stop pressuring me to make a decision before 12th grade and i feel like i am still paying for that mistake and will be for a long time. i changed majors twice and then dropped out
@sagistarbb
A gap year should be normal if not encouraged. Live life, learn who you are out of high-school before jumping into tens of thousandsof debt
@sagistarbb
agreed. i wish i’d taken a gap year to really figure out what i want to do because i went into something and hated it. i dropped out, told my parents and then we were all trying to figure out what next. i’m now doing something better, more fun, but not because it’s passion.
