The most triggering part of Euphoria to me is the realistic depiction of addiction. That anxiety you feel watching Rue destroy her life...the realization that you have to just sit there and watch her hit rock bottom with no way of softening the blow. The sheer helplessness.

as the audience it hurts, bc we’re all actively rooting for her to get it together and be okay. i feel like rue is family to me bc of how angry i get watching her go deeper and deeper into this hole of addiction.

Missed on the conversation today, when Jules and Elliot talk about Rue not being much interested in Sex. I think that is just the focus in the addiction. Nothing is more important for a addict than the next hit, hence neglecting her girlfriend.

As someone in recovery from hard drugs it is super triggering but I’m super grateful to see a show actually portray addiction in an accurate way
@sagistarbb
i find solace knowing she won’t die:also holding my breath as she dives. i’m the child an addict who lost their battle to the horrors of addiction. fueled my writing career & sobriety. it’s a better way.

Yesss, that's the most powerful thing about this show. And Rue's ways are relatable to practically any addiction. I see myself in her self-destruction and know how hard it is to give up something that's literally swinging you off a cliff to death
@sagistarbb
the most triggering part of euphoria is the way everyone thinks her problems are from addiction when she’s literally been mentally ill since a child. they completely abandoned any storyline about her wellbeing that doesnt require her to surrender to her illness with sobriety..
@sagistarbb
I’m grateful it’s so accurate in a way that maybe our generation can be more kind and compassionate to people with addiction because it shows it as “raw” as it truly is
@sagistarbb
As someone who knows an addict it's frustrating not seeing them get better. Just like it's frustrating not seeing Rue get better. It doesn't help that they live with their partner. And their partner doesn't try to get them help. They just tolerate their addiction instead.
@sagistarbb
I honestly hope that they end this show with Rue dying. They need to show a realistic ending that demonstrates the sad fate of too many addicts in the world. People are becoming influenced by this show thinking that they can spiral down that path and it always work out fine.

i think in the next few episodes we’ll see rue lose all of her support systems and see her hit true rock bottom… mbe an overdose.. so she can learn to better herself. like ali(idk spelling) on ep 3.. then fez and jules and stuff are gonna be gone and shits gonna go down
