They risk their lives not because they want to, but because they have no other way. This new route from France to the UK could be a lifeline. It must be expanded to include children who travel alone.

Since safe routes were lost after Brexit, many child refugees have had no choice but to turn to smugglers. Over 4,650 children crossed the Channel in the last year, more than half made the journey alone.

The truth is, most people in the UK want this country to be safe and welcoming for people fleeing war and persecution. We won’t stop working for that future, where refugees and all communities can live in safety and belong.

Last year, in the face of hate across UK, communities didn’t stay silent. People showed up to clean the streets, stand by their neighbours, and show what real unity looks like. With recent riots and ongoing attempts to divide us, that show of solidarity matters more than ever.

This is what happens when governments leave refugees with no safe alternatives to smugglers. We need safe routes now, before more lives are lost.

He’s one of at least 19 people who’ve fallen victim to the UK’s hostile immigration system. He went into cardiac arrest as the boat turned back toward the French coast. Emergency services tried to save him, but it was too late. This loss was entirely preventable.

In recent weeks, we've seen refugee hotels attacked across the UK, and mobs spreading the same racist violence we saw on our streets last year. It's time for our politicians and media to stop pushing hateful, divisive rhetoric, or this violence will only keep spreading.

What’s happening in Gaza is unbearable. A permanent ceasefire is urgently needed. But until Palestinians can live freely in their own homes, Governments must step up to provide routes to safety. We won’t stop standing with Palestinian families. [4/4].

But family reunion applications can take months, while people are still trapped under daily bombardment and what the World Health Organisation has described as man-made mass starvation. Many don’t know if they’ll survive long enough for their case to even be decided. [3/4].

People we support, desperately trying to reunite with family in Europe, tell us they don’t know when they’ll next eat or access clean water. Some are making heartbreaking choices — leaving loved ones behind in the hope of getting their children to safety. [2/4].

At least 101 people have now died of starvation in Gaza, including 80 children, most of them in recent weeks. Children and families are being killed while queuing for food, and tents sheltering displaced people are being bombed. This can't continue. [1/4]
