π³ Calgary Tree Equity Tool β Updated! Iβve updated the Calgary Tree Equity Tool ( https://t.co/XbCtp57P7I) with a redesigned user interface. The equity score now also includes land surface temperature which accounts for urban heat island effects.

We'd like to invite you to attend SatCamp in beautiful Boulder, Colorado, from October 1 to 3, 2024. Because of its unique nature, space is very limited. There are still a few spots left that include accommodations. https://t.co/v3Bj2xSllS

#yyccc's historic housing hearings revealed Calgarians across the political divide love their trees & care about tree canopy. Hub #NatureNode members @DruhFarrell @winexus @saadiqmohiuddin & Heather Addy couldn't agree more. What's up with trees in #YYC? https://t.co/ecIDpTDCIi

You can also see tree canopy change over time. Tuxedo Park tree canopy has been hit hard by inner city redevelopment in recent years (8% loss between 2017 and 2022). You can see the loss in canopy for a row of infill houses. (4/4)

Tree canopy change over time is also concerning. Between 2017 and 2022, established NE neighbourhoods have the highest tree canopy loss, with communities such as Rundle, Whitehorn, Marlborough and Pineridge losing around 10% canopy each. (3/4)

NE Calgary has the lowest tree cover in Calgary and the lowest Tree Equity Scores, averaging around 60 out of 100. Areas in the Saddle Ridge community, with a high visible minority population, have tree cover as low as 1%, far below the City goal of 16%. (2/4)

Excited to share a project I've been working on! The Calgary Tree Equity mapping tool shows how equitable tree coverage is in Calgary: https://t.co/PpFOz0kHEu. It calculates a Tree Equity Score and measures how well the benefits of trees are reaching communities. (1/4)
