I'm now the proud owner of this moderately large argon/krypton ion laser. It needs around 2kW of electrical power to make 100mW of laser light. In other words, I've got a new space heater for my room...

This kind of shit would kill a 70s computer engineer. We're really spending CPU, GPU and ram on complete garbage these days.
This is the 'modern' Windows Run with Fluent Design on Windows 11, coming soon. It won't replace the legacy 'Run' dialog... at least for now. New Windows Run will be an optional UI upgrade, and it might also get new features at some point. Modern Windows Run is based on WinUI,

For those who are more competent in audio amplifiers, how stupid of a design is this for a headphone final stage that minimizes THD? Target impedance is 30 to 300Ohm. The design uses a high quality audio opamp to dynamically correct any small nonlinearity in the class AB stage.

Can anyone give me a good reason why a voltage regulator would have anything other than ground on the mounting tab? Are they being paid by Big Mica Insulator to do this shit? Especially when their positive voltage model DOES connect the tab to ground...

Would anyone happen to have an old DSLAM laying around? I wanna get networking for my retro computers downstaires but this house doesn't have ethernet in the walls. So instead of doing it with wifi (boring), I think running a DSL connection over the phone lines would be more fun!

We really need to stop putting full color LCD displays on every bit of test equipment imaginable. A power supply or a multimeter doesn't need a 480p TFT... It's just making things more complicated for no reason. Use 7 segment displays instead. oh and also physical buttons please!

I've just written what I think is one of the world's most accurate analog oscilloscope emulator ever... The processing is done entirely on the GPU and runs in real time with minimal GPU usage. As a demo here it is displaying the "Primer" demo by BEC. https://t.co/UVPN6MX56v

I'm specifically mentioning MQTT here because it's an already available solution which is extremely light weight and scales relatively well (3/3)

Could imagine using MQTT topics in the form of "<cospar id>/<downlink name>" for CADU data or even "<cospar id>/<downlink name>/<instrument name>" if per-instrument granularity is desired. The removal of duplicate frames/packets would have to be done at some point though (2/3)

What if software like #SatDump (@aang254 @JVital2013) had MQTT support so ground stations can share either CADU or higher level PDU for continuous coverage of satellites around the globe. Decoders could then subscribe to these streams to get live data from the satellites. (1/3)
