Localizers have done this before, only omitting stuff like biblical relations back then because it was law at the time I think? And also uses parables, phrases that is close to the JP script. It was just around the 2012 up till now where you can feel the shift

I like 1:1 localization. 1:1 doesn’t mean it sounds google translate or use of suffixes need to be retained. I mean translate it to EN without changing the meaning, setting, characteristics, no matter how sensitive or not acceptable it is.

Localizers, just because it worked that you had rewrote a part of the text or change a character’s personality, doesn’t mean you can do it every time in every work. Who are you to change it? You’re not the author. Controversial/not accepted is not good enough excuse.
Or, both sides should see and understand each other’s perspectives.

If it’s an unspecified/unknown characteristics, if it’s a person, use “he/him,” living/non-living but not a person, use “it,” and if it’s nature, use “she/her.” The language is way too confusing. Am I even using English?

This what was taught to us in English classes, using American textbooks. They/Them pronouns is plural. But somehow it’s now used as gender neutral or non-binary pronouns. If that is so, what’s the plural form? We were taught pronouns used according to sex, not gender. Confusing.

-a character’s written characteristics. Nowadays, performances such as that is all you need to get EN audiences’ attention. Which is why I find EN dub currently just not right. It’s not bad, but doesn’t sound right. Not because of cultural differences either.
