Warmed my heart to hear @FoodstersUnited and @cupw singing Solidarity Forever outside of the Ontario Labour Relations Board today at the Foodora closing arguments. You folks are the best and it was an honour to work with you all — now we wait and cross our fingers.

In 1978 postal workers defied back to work legislation. The strike lasted 10 days ending only after many picket line firings and the arrest of the national leadership. No union on its own can win against an anti-worker gov’t. Support CUPW Let’s build a strong labour movement.

Immensely proud of the work that my colleauges are doing in support of the encampment. The hearings are open to public and @irinaceric 's commentary is the perfect complement to watching Jackie's excellent submissions.

As Twitter slowly crumbles @TimChristiaens5 ‘s chapter by chapter summaries of great books are one of the few things that keep me logging on.
Just started reading Double Shift by @Unemployedneg . The intro is already very promising. Will be writing a review of the book as well, so keep posted!

🧵This year, a UN Special Rapporteur said tied employment makes migrant workers in Canada "vulnerable to contemporary forms of slavery." What some Canadians may not know is Canada first imposed tied employment for Caribbean farmworkers specifically because they were Black. 1/

Months ago got in a spat with an ex-Toronto Sun columnist. TL;DR called me a "doughy socialist" and her trolls claimed our dog was also a marxist and we spent too much time in the basement. Anyways, not a fan of AI images but used those prompts - found my best life.

It’s almost November, which means the Workers’ Bowl is coming . Help our firm support the Workers’ Action Centre @WorkersAC - WAC does vital work supporting low wage and precarious workers in the fight against bad bosses.

Last few years I have done a guest lecture at @WindsorLaw on privacy at work. Next week will be first time since @BrishenRogers ‘s book came out - such a great addition to the presentation; fills in all the gaps. A necessary read.

Seriously though - a Canada episode needs to be a stretch goal on patreon…

Pumped to geek out over this podcast & have started making my own reading list. Have to convince them to do an Irving Abella-inspired bonus episode in Canada for those of us up north like me and @Clmumme

@katiecruzzzz @Clmumme Not surprisingly at great article by @katiecruzzzz -- a pandemic side project was looking at the Algonquin Tavern case and Canadian Association of Burlesque Entertainers (SW-based union that tried to use changes to dependent contractor def'n) - inspires me to get back at it.

Just had to pause in a hearing so a witness could unstick a cat from something that it had fallen into. I will miss the zoom era of arbitrations.
