We cannot begin to address the obscene injustices in this country without grappling with whiteness -- not as a simplistic racial categorization, but as a deeply structured relationship to power and group entitlement.

An understanding of #racism - what it is (and isn’t), - how it’s experienced and - what emotional and physical damage it has on those who it impacts …should be made compulsory training for all staff in schools as it is a crucial Safeguarding issue.

The case of the child who was strip searched by police at school must have involved so many adults who did not stop it happening. We can’t be passive/impartial if it means we do harm. Teachers must educate themselves about systemic racism because the system won’t educate you.

If an educational initiative espouses social and linguistic justice but actually requires marginalised children to change or abandon their language, then all it is doing is placing responsibility on marginalised children to change themselves. That isn't justice - it's harm.

@DrPragyaAgarwal This a a beautiful personal expression of identity and also a powerful protest call against the borders & binaries that seek to divide us- May I ask you to ask your child if their poem can be used as a stimulus for activities on identity with other children and young people?

Doreen Lawrence: “Within the black community, how we’re treated, how crime’s investigated, we’re never seen as a group of people that should have justice. So everything that we’ve had, we’ve had to fight for – and continue to fight.”

Considering why it's #MathsUntil18 & not politics, history, geography etc? This quote is apt.. “It would be extremely naive to expect the dominant classes to develop a type of education that would enable subordinate classes to perceive social injustices critically.” Paulo Freire

The importance of teaching #BlackHistory is not just about teaching accurate history, it’s about sharing our common migration story to teach empathy and belonging, which in turn prevents us making the same catastrophic mistakes like the Windrush scandal.

I have experienced many young children who would never openly voice racist terms related to PoC have absolutely no problem voicing Anti-Traveller racism - it’s a serious issue needing addressing in #schools

I want people to talk about anti Traveller racism everywhere. It is a big issue and it isn't spoken about outside our circles nearly enough. We need our allies to spread the truth and dispel the stereotypes that people believe. We need your voices

Day 10 of #MuslimHistoryMonth Ever wondered who invented coffee? The story goes a goat herder, Khalid from the Kaffa region of Ethiopia, noticed his animals became livelier after eating a certain berry. He boiled the berries to make the first coffee. 1/3
