I would like to see the receipts for what the girlboss STL landlords are paying their cleaners, who likely travel a significant distance to get to work on account of those girlboss markets pricing then out of living anywhere near where they work :) Live, laff, love, landlord

@SaveSCScotland @cllrcammyday Let's not forget many STLs are run by women. A lot of cleaners are also women. Many of the guests I host are single women travellers seeking a safe space. Many women chose to do this work because it fits around child care or other care duties.

@LindaMacintosh2 As much as I enjoy our little chats Linda I think a bit of reading on the basics of market forces might do you the world of good, especially when it comes to privatised housing and the current crisis.

@ruth_gilbert Ask the cleaners who are desperate to keep their well paid jobs that they can fit in during school hours. Around £25 - £30 an hour is the average rate.

@ruth_gilbert I think comments like this show just how out of touch Living Rent are. 7,000 jobs are estimated to be lost from STL policy, it’s real. I can put you in touch directly with many small businesses if you are genuinely interested.

@ruth_gilbert I pay £115 and £145 per changeover for each property. Changeovers take 2 to 4 hours.

@ruth_gilbert Oh here you go Ruth. 3hr clean 2 bed flat. Cleaner has her own business lives where she wants to. Single mother initials are her 3 kids initials. Don’t refer to myself as a girlboss. Is that not a millennial thing? Always find it a bit twee but each to their own

@ruth_gilbert £18/hour for cleaners. Same for the person that does the ironing. Tradesmen get paid a bit more for carrying out maintenance. STL's support a lot of hardworking people and economic activity in their area.

@ruth_gilbert When I started we did all cleaning and linen ourselves. When it was impossible to do it we employed a team to clean, do maintenance + laundry. Paid well above living wage, pensions + helped staff e.g. one employee extra £ for her dog sitting cost, helped another get a car #pause

@ruth_gilbert I’m certain a good deal more than the corporate hotel chains and student residences supported by CEC pay theirs. I’d tell you to look at any job site for evidence but funnily enough the self catering sector is not hiring right now.

@ruth_gilbert I know you think this is a really pithy comment that fits your narrative but I really think you need to do your research before you start slating 'girlbosses' in such hilarious fashion.
