British govt should go full Manhattan Project on Oxford-Cambridge arc. 10x both science parks in size, including special ARIA and DSTL zones. Militarise them for national security and for defence tech integration. Grow the cities to 1m population each by 2050 (mostly internal.

It is extraordinary that Britain has achieved this despite:. Cripplingly high energy costs.Strangling regulation.Flat productivity.Highest tax burden in 70 years. Imagine what the Britain of 2050 could be doing if we start being run competently. Stay optimistic!

Skyrora has been given approval to launch from the SaxaVord spaceport. By 2030 we could see rockets being designed, build and launched monthly, all in Britain. 🚀🚀

Reading Napoleon's Commentaries on the Wars of Julius Caesar. The minutae the Corsican General goes into while analysing Caesar's bridge crossings is remarkable. As the saying goes, "amateurs talk strategy, professionals talk logistics".

SSTO (single-stage-to-orbit) aka spaceplanes might be the hardware breakthrough of the 21st c. One modular solution that could cannibalise airliners, SpaceX and anything between Mach 0.6 - 25. Exciting that Reaction Engine's SABRE tech is kept going by a new consortium.

Everyone has heard about the latest set of DEI demands for UK govt interns. I have a more optimistic proposal:. Each year, hire a few dozen grads (British nationals only) on a £100k 1yr contract. CV-blind selection driven only by an extemely rigorous academic and interview.

Yes our political elite have signed off a death warrant for this nation. But England has been around for 1,200yrs and faced oblivion many times. It's never over. There are many extremely competent patriots who will fight bitterly to turn the ship around.

Went to the world's best museum yesterday in DC. Seeing this 65-year story still blows my mind. The most remarkable chapter in human history so far.

Texas' free market approach is utterly outperforming California's ideological green agenda of subsidies, regulations and mandates. One to consider for those who use the climate crisis to push their own socialist agenda.

New data on solar, wind, and battery deployment just came out. Let's check in on the race between California and Texas to build clean energy.

I'm not at all shy of criticising UK policy, but this is an unfair comparison. UK's shift is nothing out of the ordinary vs comparable economies. The real Q is why has electricity generation consistently been lower than Germany and France

The general view of the UK economy is that it's been stagnating for decades now. But on some of the most important metrics it's actually going backwards.

China began work on the Medog hydropower dam this month. It will be the largest in the world with 60GW of generation - enough to power the entire of Britain. twice over. Will take only 8 years to build and cost $137bn. Roughly the same as HS2 in cost, or 4 Sizewell Cs.

Unfortunately this set up now has to battle Trump's insane renewables ban. By 2035 the bill is going to cost Texas $50bn of GDP, 100k jobs forgone, and add $500 to household bills!.

Texas might have the most perfect energy system in the west. A vast glut of wind, oil, gas, solar, nuclear giving industrial prices of 9c/kWh (UK is 40c+). 17,000 micro markets competing on price (UK has 1 price). Planning is so nimble they can out-supply any volatility concerns

Idc what your economic or climate worldview is. When it's >30*C, Britain is unworkable and deadly. AC should be in every newbuild.

Only 2 (braindead) opinions on energy policy exist in British politics:. Ideologically love renewables or ideologically hate them. Neither will understand or react to big global trends like this.
