Honestly the more I write this, the more I like the design itself. It's okay if you don't like Beezlebub, or Helluva Boss, but I'd encourage peeps to engage with their media a little deeper and try to find value in things, even if you still end up disagreeing with those choices.

So already I respect the design more just as a massive middle finger. Back to nostalgia, the design + song is dripping with early-2010s aesthetic. And wouldn't you know it, nostalgia is the same stuff being force-fed to us to keep up watching, clicking, scrolling, consuming.

It's been implied that the head honchos of hell in this show are responsible for modern day ills, so it'd make sense to me that Beezlebub would have a design showing one lens of modern gluttony - visuals/sounds that pop and feel good but robs our attention from what needs it.

I think the cotton candy theme also plays into this - it feels good to eat and looks lovely on the surface, but lacks substance and nourishment. You can see all these other hellhounds eating it from a person who looks like they have their best interests at heart. An influencer.

So here's what I've heard and thought of that made me respect the design more:
Beezlebub for one, is a homage to Vivzie's big blowup vid with a music video to "Die Young" by Ke$ha. The artist, wolves, + scene culture have been incredibly important to viv's teenhood and style.

Why does that matter? I believe Beezlebub is a self aware, tongue-in-cheek meta commentary on Vivzie's own "sin" of "indulging in excess" in her own style to the point that people cast moral judgements about it. Viv's been around for 10+ years, she's no stranger to this rhetoric.

I think it's very clever to have a character based on indulgence and cheap thrills to also be contrasted with the only person not having fun - Loona - because of Beezlebub also having a past w/ envy. After all, envy is the thief of joy, the only deadly sin to not give pleasure.

Influencer culture also has its fingers this design, and most of the lyrics talk abt this. Beelzebub has also been the prince of envy, and I think Loona's envy with her points at this idea. Influencers make you wish you had their life and convince you to indulge in the idea.

I saw the design out of context first, on twitter, and I immediately disliked it. But I assumed they had a more authentic reason to do this than "hehe sparkledogs brrr porn bait lazy" so I tried to interact and seek out understanding, even if I didn't agree with the end product.

Because replacing every single shot in the movie with a new model that requires new compositing, new framing, new animations, etc. takes time and no one thought that they would be able to do so without an undue burden on the artists. So we're happy that it didn't go down that way

Also given the fact that eeveelutions are some of the most popular pokemon ever, they probably had a lot more effort and polish put into them from the get go so very little would be needed to bring them up to the quality bar that's impossible at an 800+ model/rig scale.

Honestly if one class-action lawsuit were to succeed vs. a big con we could shut this down overnight. It's hard, by the time lawyer fees are done we'd prob not get any money back but there needs to be financial consequences for breach of contract that we are ALL letting slip by.

Being a scab and crossing the picket line are separate actions. Another example of crossing is not respecting a boycott. SAG and AFTRA have no legal authority to negotiate with Twitch and it's unreasonable to ask for a guild or union to negotiate on behalf of those not unionized.
