In the next step, I'll have a RA and the classifier work with the full data set, followed by inspecting disagreements by the PI (me). Any pointers in the right direction are welcome.

Hey academic Twittersphere. Has somebody used text classification tools to filter article abstracts for inclusion in a systematic or scoping review? I'm interested in a workflow that trains a classifier on a small set of pre-coded abstracts. @Hendrik__Meyer @damian0604 @favstats.

The IEA has something to say about climate justice: "The world’s top 1% of emitters produce over 1000 times more CO2 than the bottom 1%" — in Europe, the ratio between the top and bottom deciles (!) is about 16. Asking underpriviliged people to sacrifice more means nothing.

Are you interested in how we can actively depolarise public debates? Then this opportunity to come to Hamburg for a few months may be for you. You'd be working with @MichaelBruegge and a few other fellows (maybe including me). PM for more details

My qualitative analysis was based on reporting during May–July 2019 (this one took a while to get published), and suggests that we need more (qualitative and quantitative) studies of how media portray political identities.

In Germany, young climate activists and protesters were portrayed as politically independent, allowing parties across the spectrum to try and coopt their ideas. In the US, they were mainly covered as a radical faction of the left, marginalizing them /4.

The tendency is less marked in Germany (but present), and "centrist" outlets (consumed by the left and right alike) seem to offer more nuanced reporting and a wider range of portrayals. /3.

I show how media consumed by the political left and right emphasise "oppositional identity portrayals". These are likely to reinforce negative views about political others among their main audiences /2.

Jahren ohne Berichterstattung. /3.
