Being able to have my research and chapter drafts exist side-by-side in the same piece of software has been an absolute game changer for my ADHD brain. Constantly switching between different programmes was exhausting.

A chapter I've been really struggling with is finally coming together AND I have actual first draft! I'm so happy it's finally taking shape.

Really enjoyed @DystopiaJunkie's talk for @MidsPopCulture today! Fascinating and insightful thoughts on documentary fiction and objective truth in 'The Power' and 'American War'.

I've read Akwaeke Emezi's 'Freshwater' twice now and I just want to read it all over again. Definitely favourite novel material.

I've been really struggling with writing lately but I've managed 500 words today. I have no idea if they make sense or not but it's a big improvement!

Really enjoyed #M4CDigiFest20 today! Particularly impressed by the super important work involving the normalisation of sexual violence in Greek myths for children by @RobinDiver22 and @Syncopate_Media's quest to make Black British women activists' voices heard. Thank you both!

So much this. My life & imagination & empathy have been immeasurably enriched by reading Black literature (not that these are the only reasons to do so). Read Octavia Butler, N.K. Jemisin, Zora Neale Hurston, & Audre Lorde among others.

Don’t just read Black literature in this moment. Read Black lit for the rest of your life. Read and support the work of Black essayists, novelists, poets, today and forever and always. Do NOT make your support conditional on whether or not racism is in the headlines

I'm excited to be able to make a start on my archival research. I now have access to 2/3 of Elphinstone Dayrell's notebook manuscripts. Thank you to @RoyalAnthro for getting the links to me so quickly.

Potential texts: Wizard of the Crow by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, Kindred by Octavia Butler, Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor, Tentacle by Rita Indiana and Daughters of Nri by Reni K. Amayo, among others. I'd love to hear your suggestions, too! (2/2) @ntuhum @NTUEngLit @Midlands4Cities

Hi @ntuhum, @NTUEngLit, and @Midlands4Cities people, I'm starting up a virtual postcolonial reading group (thanks to @AndrewThacker1 for the suggestion!). I'm hoping to focus on postcolonial fantasy and science fiction. Please get in touch if you'd like to get involved! (1/2)

Reading that all elements of the review process were 'well conceived, ground-breaking, and exciting' means more to me than any 1st-class grade ever has.

And glorious it is. I only wish I could stream the production of Nights at the Circus, too.

@NVPoco @Dr_Aimz Also spontaneously chaired a panel for the first time and lived to tell the tale. It's been a very good day. Thank you, @NVPoco. #NVPoco2019
