Another a fantastic chance for Charman from a free kick whose header just went wide. With 10 minutes to go, and players dead on their feet, Penshurst notched their 4th and 5th in a disappointing end to the game.

It was these fresh legs that ultimately did for us, a well worked 3rd 25 minutes into the half seeing them extend their lead. We could have halved the deficit twice. Once with Healey played through who saw his one one chance smothered by the keeper.

Then they were awarded a free kick for handball on the edge of the box with just a minute to the end of the half, and dispatched it successfully. Into the second half and we were rallying as Penshurst introduced players off the bench.

Penshurst were playing well though, and a big turning point came when yet another injury occurred for Young Rogers. Penshurst grabbed their equaliser breaking on us quickly and punishing us.

We then had a few good chances, Bass seeing a strike saved on the line, Chiarletti going very close twice from the edge of the box and Young Rogers working the keeper.

Ultimately it was legs and options that did for us here. We started really brightly and took the lead, a Chiarletti free kick worked back across by Charman for Gabriel to score his first goal in adult football.

🌹Penshurst FC 5-1 Roselands FC🌹.•.Saturdays result was another reflection of struggling committment and injuries that have plagued us at the start of the season, with a usual 11 and 2 new players helping us to get a side out.

Firstly, their skipper saw red for a punch to the back of Faulkner’s head, well spotted by the referee. Then with just a minute to go, Harvey grabbed a scrappy 3rd having chucked everything at us.

We were playing well, then with 25 minutes left Giles saw a red card for bringing down their striker as last man. We dug in and defended superbly for 20 minutes. With just a few minutes left there were two more points of contention.

Shortly after, Harvey cut the deficit, with some relentless pressure that finally told. We then found our fourth, a brilliant Chiarletti corner was kept alive by Young, who found Young Rogers for another header.

Into the second half and we were treated to one of the best finishes any of us have seen. O’Keefe won a free kick 40 yards out, with magic man Chiarletti over the ball he struck the FK from distance, into the postage stamp giving the keeper no chance. An exceptional strike.

However it wasn’t long before we found the lead again, Healey going through on the left side, beating his man well and delivering a fantastic cross for Young Rogers to rise and score a brilliant header, again his first goal for the club.

Harvey hit back, a well worked move saw their danger man one on one, who slotted beyond Mawson.
