An MLB team should replace their empty VIP seats behind home plate with bleachers with raucous fans. Make it cheap at first. Build an identity. Charge more over years. Eventually have expensive seats filled with diehard fans.

Mike Illitch wouldn’t have let this happen. Scott Harris just sat on his hands at the deadline and picked up a couple projects. Frustrating and probably not a great message to the Tigers clubhouse on your plans to invest in the team.

The case for JV to the Tigers: Low risk. He'd be fired up. He comes cheap w/o top prospects. AJ can use him in a lot of ways. He'd be a team player. He can mentor the young ones. Fans would show up for him. And he should finish with an english D.
