They might have traction already which will make the risk/reward equation acceptable to another investor. we dont know. At least they are being honest about their objectives/projections so you both know there is no alignment with your fund.
Inbound pitch: the company is valued at $8m and we'll be worth $100m in 5 yrs. It may work for the founders, but if this represents my typical investment trajectory, I'd have long failed.

i am still amazed how most startup investors are great at understanding that startups can grow exponentially but don’t understand that markets can too “the TAM is too small” has cost startup investors more money than any other often-repeated phrase i know of
