Rockwall ISD schools and support offices will have a two hour delayed start time tomorrow, Tues., Jan. 16. The district will continue to evaluate weather conditions overnight and any closure announcement will be made prior to 6 a.m. Buses will run 2 hours late.

The Board of Trustees named the newest campus, Lupe Garcia Elementary School, after the longtime classroom educator. Her career spans 40 years serving as a Dobbs ES teacher. The school will open in Fall 2021.

Wow! Within 24 hours our Child Nutrition team, with special assistance from Dr. V and David Carter, organized and distributed over 1,200 individual meals at today's free meal pickup. That will feed 208 students 2 meals a day for 3 days. Relationships. Innovation. Excellence.
Today we celebrated Dr. Amy Anderson with a virtual Going Away lunch. We appreciate her service to Rockwall ISD and wish her well in her new ventures.

Prior to the Rockwall-Heath HS football game tonight, the RHHS Baseball Team received their championship rings from their 2021 State Championship. Congratulations!
Good news! The USDA granted approval for the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to permit meal services seven days a week. Rockwall ISD will begin giving free weekend meals Friday, April 24. To date, our Child Nutrition staff has served 23,838 meals at three locations.

Steven Pesek is named the Principal of Lupe Garcia Elementary School, the District’s newest campus scheduled to open Fall 2021. He has 19 years of public education experience, including five years as the current Principal of Shannon Elementary.
Our staff practiced social distancing today as they called families in need of tech. They coordinated pick-up for students engaged in Online Campus Learning.

He’s only 1 of 500 in the US!! The Board recognized Jacob Limerick, RHS senior, who scored a PERFECT SAT score. Only 500 students across the country earn such an accomplishment!!
Congratulations to Dr. Megan Gist! She was named the Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction at last night’s Board meeting. She has served as a principal in Rockwall ISD for nine years and has 23 years of experience in public education.

The Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Dane Steinberger as the new Rockwall High School principal. Mr. Steinberger has been the principal of Utley Middle School for the past six years.

At tonight’s board meeting, Megan Smith was named as the principal of Sherry and Paul Hamm Elementary School, the 15th elementary school in the district. She will continue to serve as principal of APHE through the spring semester.

In light of the rolling electricity blackouts impacting families and staff during these extreme weather conditions, Rockwall ISD will close all campuses and support offices and cancel remote learning for all students tomorrow, Tuesday, February 16, and Wednesday, February 17.
Tonight the Board of Trustees returned to in-person recognition of students and student groups at their monthly meeting. They recognized the Rockwall-Heath HS State 6A Finalist Boys soccer team. Way to go!
